Hi guys, I have a 2004 rx1 all stock and am having trouble with it idleing. What happend was my heated face sheild cord melted on me during a ride and it blew my acc fuse. After that my sled has not idled right . It has a slight stumble at idle and all four of the plugs turned white. I have tried another set of carbs from a buddies sled, i have changed the plugs and coils , i have tried a different cdi , i have checked compression, i have tested my tps ,cleaned my tors and synced my carbs still no luck. The weird thing is if i disconect my coolant temp sensor the plugs will go black . So i am guessing that the cdi goes in to a limp mode to protect the engine . Any help will be great guys . thanks

do all your lights/gauges still work? could have damaged the stator from the dead short.

I did check the stater and it all tests fine . However i did just adjust the tps but have not had a chance to try it yet . The tps was reading to high of voltage whitch would advaced the timming . Ill let you guys know after i try it .

- 2010 RS VECTOR GT LTX STOCK FOR NOW!
I had some similar issues in the past. This year I went nuts in the pre season and don't know what really did the trick but my sled has never been better.
1. Ran the sled up to temp a few times and sprayed aerosol seafoam into the carbs like you would on a carbed car to help clean valves ect.
2. ran sea foam in the oil for a short time to clean rings kinda like a shock treatment of ring free.
3. then chained the oil and pulled the carbs for a serious cleaning. also I recommend when cleaning to make sure you clean the pilot jets with a touch tip cleaner or wire they are so small they may look clean but might not be.
4. changed the plugs and went back to stock as my sled did not like the cooler ngk 10's people run.
5. dissembled the coils or plug caps and cleaned and greased with dialectic
6. last and possibly the most important was I bought a sync tool and did the carbs it was well needed they were all over the place should have done this years ago.
good luck I would be looking at your plug caps or coils and maybe a sync?

So as for the cleaning of the carbs. I have done so 9 time and I'm not kidding when I say 9. Still the same. I have tried a buddies set of carbs wich work great on his stll runs the same. I put mine on his and it runs great. I just swapped out the harness with a spare and still plugs are white. When I say white I dont mean just one I mean all are white. It has to be a timming issue. My next step is to pull the stater and try buddies. I love my rx1 but really , I think this thing may make me nuts.

Sorry and another reaon I think it is timming is that right after the short my sled was pulling 11000 rpm at wot and right before that it was pulling 10200 at wot witch it always did prior. I know alittle bit advanced is ok but mine is at the extrem. Just a little food for thought. Thanks again guys hope some one can throw some more ideas my way.

All right so I swapped out the stator still the same. Did a compression test 212psi across the board. I did a leak down test tured out good. So next step again is to try a third cdi box and see what happens. Hope to get me hands on one this week. Ill post again after this weekend when I try it.

Sounds like you are running lean and hot if your plugs are white
I would check Fuel preasure...... Fuel filters
-possible air box leak
What plugs are you running and what gap?
