I think my attak is turning a bit too high. I have stock clutching and a new belt with about 300 miles (first 200 were gentle miles) I am hitting 11,000 or just slightly under on the trail when I hit it. What is the target Rpm? (10,600-10,800???) What should I do to bring it down? I looked at the helix and sliders and they look good and is in No.3 on the outter hole, didn't take it apart to look at the inner.

Ya I know tachs can off but it was turning 10,700 0r 10,800 last year. how would I bring it down slightly?

try replacing your primary spring, could be wore

change the setting on the secondary spring. if you change the setting to 6 or 9 it'll drop the rpm's by 200rpm each. i always run my sled at 10,800. big difference in power from 10,400 to 10,800. apex's make all their power at 10,800 and all their torque at 10,200.

Thanks kuvasz.

Hey blevis213, wouldn't installing a new front spring have an opposite effect?

Is 6 or 9 more tension or less? I would be looking for less correct?

If your sled is starting to over rev for no apparent reason I would suggest trying a new belt.

The degrees of secondary spring wrap is the sum of the spring position hole in the clutch added to the spring hole position in the helix x 10.
For ex: spring end in number 3 hole in clutch
spring end in number 3 hole in helix
3 + 3 = 6 x 10 = 60 degrees spring wrap

The less degrees of spring wrap the lower the rpm.

On the Yamaha secondaries I would not run under 60 degrees of wrap, if your RPM is still too high you may have to change your primary spring to a lesser final spring tension.

Clean your clutches.
Scotchbrite your belt with soap & water.
Check Spring in secondary to make sure it is in the correct holes.
If those don't work, change the belt.
If that doesn't work add another gram [bigger rivet] in the tip of the primary weights.
Tuning RPM by decreasing secondary spring pressure is a band aid fix. It will slow your backshift.
