Tried to fire up the sled Friday - not even a hint of fire.
Stabiled the gas and shot fogging oil down the cylinders this spring.
Doesn't seem like spark and or gas is actually making it to the cylinders. No gas smell after a ton of cranking.
Putt 2.5 gallons of new gas in - no difference. Then hooked the fuel lines right into a jar of gas, but it really didn't take any fuel while cranking.
Could this be a coincindental TORS/CDI issue?
Did any one else have a hard time getting their sled started?
Now I have to figure out how to charge the battery - is everyone using the "yamaha specifed" battery charger?
Thanks in advance guys.

The carbs are dry, find the tank vent and blow in it to pressurize the tank and force fuel to the carbs.
Any decent 12v charger will work. 1 to 3 amps would probably be preferrable.

no should have nothing to do with the tors do waht NY_Warrior said to pressure the gas tank you need to plug the vent hose that goes in the fram to do this, if this dont work make sure all 3 plugs are sparking if not try plugs. Let us know how you make out.BA said:Could this be a coincindental TORS/CDI issue?

Check out the link to thread below in which LB clearly states what you need to do.

It should fire right up after you do this.

I still say if you just shoot a quick snort of Ether in them they start right up. No need for blowing bubbles in your fuel tank. Once it's running it stays running.

Hard starting this fall!
Just took my 05 rage out of the trailer to get the clutch noise fixed at the dealer. Got to the dealer and tried to start sled. Luckily I had been charging the battery over the summer.. With choke on cranked a long time and finally fired. Nearly killed the battery. Once running no more problems. Got it back yesterday and it started right up. I bought the Optimate charger and find it to be great. Clutch rattle gone , sounds nice!

Problem solved. Thanks for the advice gents. Blowing the in gas vent worked after about 15 sec of cranking.
I still thought there was a restriction on the type of battery charger that yamaha spec'd, but my normal one did the trick.

I use one from MinnKota who make electric boat motors. They charge very slow. So slow in fact that once a battery is real dead it can't bring it back but would be fine for snowmobiles, ATV's lawnmowers, etc.
Next time take the airbox lid off and hand choke by putting your hand over the carb throat . It will fire than do another one and it should be running by the time you do the second one.

I fired mine up 2or3 times over the summer for a few minutes each time. She runs great never had to hook the charger to it or mess with the fuel. just put some dry gas in way back when ran it here and there. no problems
