Hey Guys
I recently bought a 05 rs vector mountain but have a rough idea with clutching but would like sons help. I'm looking for a good clutch setup . The sevondary that came on the sled is a team rapid reaction with twin trax 56-46f/56-44f. I'm not sure if the helix will work for me or should I go with the stock Yamaha one as I don't know much about team secondary's. My gearing is 20-39 with a 159" track. Elevation is 0-1000 ft. Clutch is going to basically be stock with 8bu-10 weights and 16 mm rollers along with a green-white-green primary spring . Now if I go ahead with the clutching and I am slightly under my desired rpm should I change the helix angle, primary spring or the clutch weights? Another question, how much does an extra 8" inches of track and 1 tooth lower on the bottom gear affect your clutching? I know it is slightly more on engine but I'm looking for a rough rpm drop what is expected.

You said your riding about 1000ft of elevation. What kind of riding are you doing with the sled.Off trail? Is that the exact set up that was in there for the turbo?

Yup elevation is at sea level so between 0-1000 ft. She has all the stuff the turbo had. I haven't changed anything yet. Gearing is 20-39 I'm planning on keeping that the same where she has reverse. The secondary is my main concern because that is what was on it for the turbo clutching. I think the angle maybe too steep compared to 39 degree stock rs vector mountain specs. The primary clutch has some kind of heel clicker I think. The weights are very different the shoulder actually moves. I can send you a picture of the weight if you like.I'm just trying to see what clutching I need to run this off trail maybe while using primary Yamaha parts. My plan is to make a fine stock sled with a little clutching to give me the right rpm to pull the gearing and 159" track. Let me know if you need any other info
I haveno messed with the team secondary on the yamahas but I have clutched alot of polaris sleds with team clutches in fact I have 2 polaris sleds with them on.You can't compare team angles to the stock yamaha angles. The vector loves a multi angle helix though.I would run the 56/44 angle to start.Do you know what spring is in the team clutch.I like 14.5 rollers in the 3 cylinders at low Altitude and high altitude. That g-w-g spring with the 8bu10 weights is a good start.

Ok I'll start there. With 14.5 rollers would that cause the rpm to drop more than with 15.6 rollers? Should I get any rivots for the 8bu-10 weights? Stock I think it calls for 10.3 alluminum but unsure if they are in both holes on the weights or not. I'll let you know what spring is in the secondary. Also, is there any easier way to remove the belt from these secondary's? Lol the Yamaha ones are so much easier.
Yes the smaller rollers cause the rpm to drop more but make the weight profile even seem more aggressive and add more beldt squeeze.I only ran the 8bu10 in nytros never the vector.I have always ran slightly less agrees I've weights then the 8bu1010's so try the rollers you have first. What do you have for rivets in the weights now?

I don't have the 8bu-10 weights yet. I just want to find somewhere to start with weights. Seeing these were the stock weights for the rs vector mountain I'd try them first but I don't know about the rivot situation . It just says 10.3 aluminum in the stock specs but don't state if it's in both holes, tip, or centre.
With that team being on I would start with the inner hole empty and Try the 10.3 in the tip.
