You are right aVenture, i had mentioned it in few post ... it is propably to those you were referred to....
In april, i had write this :
i had the chance to avoid an other issue, the cam support of the rear suspention spring can break and completely fall from the transfer arm. 3 friends of mine experience this one. I had the chance to re-inforced this braket before it break. I don't understand why yamaha did not make a safety recall on this one yet, because when it happened, the springs bite in the track and lock it.. imagine if it happen when you take a curve at high speed or when you cross a road.... By the forum report, i am aware of 7 cases of this.... if yamaha do nothing with that this summer, i will post a detailed message on this. Not only that it scrap your track, it is a safety issue and somebody could be injured.

And in october, i also wrote this
So, this support and also the support for the rear coil spring end (the one with the 3 position black plastic cam) need to be reinforced on all 2005 RsVenture. In this last case, i know many cases where this support also break. When this happened, the rear end fall down and the end of the coils spring bite througt the track jamming the whole thing  . Some peoples can be injured when those breaking case happen. I will post more in detail if yamaha do nothing for that...

I renonced to made a formal post on this because nobody else talked about this problem here and a doubt was installed in my mind about the possibility that the US version can be different on the skid part... Now we know it is not the case...

Towing or aVenture, how much would you want to fabricate your reinforcing bracket for me?
Unfortunately, i can't made it for you but it is not a so complicated job to built a safety braket... you already have the two bolts to attached your braket on each side. If you don't feel confident to do it yourself, just go at a local welder shop with your sled and ask them to build you something. You can show them a picture of what me or aVenture did and i am sure they will make you something strong for cheaper than any dealership and you will be able to enjoy your ride in security.
I really agree with mad x1981 , it's your security... don't play with that...
Good luck
Bye
