ok I know this was hashed out a few years ago but I just picked up a kit to replace the two elements that are on my nytro now. Instructions used to say blue to white wiring and red on its own. New instructions now say red to blue like some were running and white on its own. Saw a couple cases where the elements had burnt out but no other damage.

Just debating which way to go. Any helps appreciated as always

Thanks

I wired up blue/red together on my first one a few yrs ago, transferred bar to a different sled then sold it. Never had a problem that way in probably 3-4 seasons. Got another set of rsi warmers and I am putting back on that first sled this weekend and will wire the same way I did the first one

Ok thanks. RSI emailed me back first thing this morning and said to do it that way too. Supposed to get hotter that way so we shall see.

Was a little concerned the extra draw may be to much for the fuse. Supposed to head out for a trip tomorrow back into the bush so we'll see how things go I guess.

Thanks.

Just installed them rsi hand warmers on mine red an blue together they worked great last weekend 10 times better than stock ones

Good to hear. Put mine together this morning and did a quick 5 minute test ride then loaded it up. Headed north of here tomorrow for a 100 mile or so ride. Calling for -10°F or so. Hope they don't don't burn out lol.

Managed to make one mistake putting them together. I was planning on heat shrink on both leads and then one large one over the whole piece. Well the last one I forgot to put the large piece on before I soldered the one lead together lol. Oh well. Put the other one together and taped it all up just for added security.

Let me know how they work im new to them to but i like them already better than stock

I've had the RSI warmers on for a few years now but it was wired the white blue wires as that was the recomended way at the time. Still may be from Yamaha I don't know for sure. I've got them red and blue now so i'll see how much of a difference it makes. At the time people were concerned about the extra draw hooking the two together. Never heard of any disaster stories yet so hopefully all will be fine. Did see a couple of cases where guys left them on high at idle or slow going on a warm day and melted the grips.

With the white blue circiut they were reasonably warm. I never ran it with the original stock grips so can't compare fairly though. On a -30 day I had to put handle bar muffs on to keep my hands warm. That's pretty cold temps though.

Well we did 90 miles today. Temps were around -10 to -15°F. Everything worked great. When I started out I put my handlebar muffs on but I hate riding with them. No manuveravility. Took them off and turned the hand warmers up to 4 bars and my hands were toasty warm all day. With the handle bar muffs on I had it set to 3 bars and my hands were to hot.

Trails were in good condition. We were the first ones through on a lot of them. Did a little bit of off trail riding too.

To piggyback off this thread, I hastily ordered the RSI Heaters for the Viper. I assume the only difference between the "Yamaha Viper" ones and the "Universal" ones are that the viper ones have the connectors on them? Couldn't I cut the connector off and wire them normally? Or are they are different resistance for the vipers?

I'd really doubt there's any difference between them but I don't know for sure.
