I don't know why, but I just feel like I bought the wrong sled this year (RTX). I was felling better after my last post, now this. I've just read SnowGoer's comments regarding the RTX and the tip tendency brought on by the Fox Floats being a bit high! I really hope that is not true. I hate the ski lift issue on my 04 Warrior. While I did not get a chance to ride any demos, I thought these kinds of issues have been resolved for 06 Apex/Attak Models. Boy that GT looks good!

First off..
DONT BELIEVE A WORD THAT SNOWGOER SAYS... They contridict themselves soooo many times per year its unbleiveable..
2nd..
CANCEL YOUR SUBSCRIPTION TO SNOWGOER.. They will say what every the manufacture who is paying the most wants them too..
3rd...
No other magazine has said anything but praises about how well the RTX handles and rides.. ( the RTX and MACH Z are the top two sleds in all magazines ive read)
4th..
You can adjust ride hight with the fox floats by lowering or raising the amount of air pressure in them...
JEEEEEEEZ... Just wait and ride it be for you start freeking out.... This is worse than pre wedding jidders.. LOL
Hope this helps..
Brian.

What they said, PLUS, you can always put in a stiffer swaybar.

TOM (MR SLED) told me that the stock RTX handled better than his 05 RX with the 13mm bar and different skis and wide front end kit..

Snowgoer has gone downhill. If it was even uphill to begin with. That's debatable. Keep your subscription to see pics and get that extra snowmobile fix. Stay away from their reviews though because they're writers first, sledders second. Most other publications disagree with them and like Welt said they contradict themselves often. They've never been fans of yamaha.

MrSleds longish term demo prototype was actually an ER with RTX paint and graphics. The floats are progressive. Could they be ever so slightly tippy, it is remotely possible. If so worst case is install a larger swaybar (like LB says) which is not very expensive. Probably just playing with the air pressure would do it.
I got an ER and I plan to put floats on it. Not to worry, you are gonna love it

Alot of ski lift or tippyness with the short tracks is rear skid is not set up for your weight or riding style,or both,if you squash the rear skid under hard take offs and transfer to hard you will get ski lift and if you are going into a turn at the same time it feels a little tippy, sort of like when the early zr 600s came out they were uncoupled in the rear and felt sort of like what you describe or worse snoegoer describes,i noticed a little of this on the ER but it was completely gone on the Attak, good luck.

Another option if you feel it is tippy AFTER riding it, besides installing a different swaybar you could replace the shocks. I know that may be a more expensive option but may be a better one. Changing swaybar has some disadvantages, going to the SOQI Comp and Rebound adjustable or the Ohlins I think is a good option because of shock AND spring adjustability.
I had Viper with revavled and resprung front shocks from Maxximum that I had the preload set pretty high which raised the height of the front of the sled compared to my freinds viper with the stock setup and it handled great and was not tippy or had ski lift at all.
Thanks
Matt

I had to chime in here and disagree with one of Welteracers points; In regards to all the rags he's read declaring the machZ and RTX being theirs picks. I have read several that liked the Attak best :ORC

I have spent plenty of time on Apex's, I have never noticed the RTX being any more "tippy" then the other Apex variations.
Yes, however your air pressure acts as your "spring". Changing air pressure not only changes ride height, it also changes "spring" rate and pre-load.

Are you sure adding air pressure raises preload? I remember seeing a graft of the Floats at different PSI's and they all had basically the same preload, therefore the curves started at the same point on the chart, but the rest of the curve was different. I don't remember what the X and Y axis were labeled as. I think that was in Snow-Tech

The preload pressure will be the same regardless of what they're pumped to... thats the pressure required to hold up the front of the sled. The QUANTITY (mass) is what affects the ride height, which is affected by charge pressure.

welt, How do you put together a magazine without sponsorships or manufacturers, every magazine operates in this manner, so to say that one magazine backs only those that spend the most is ridiculous. Yes they may get more advertising, but every report I have ever read in any mag list all the sleds by all the manufacturers. Secondly, realize that they are also test riding proto-types, not production units, so there can be a variety of changes from each test ride for any magazine. I had the chance to ride the 06's and the attack that I rode really lifted the ski's every time you hit the throttle, why because it wasn't the production spring or setting. The Nytro was awesome but at first to me seemed "tippy", ride it for ten minutes and man it's a blast, I adapted to the machine. The GT, well I ordered one because i found the machine the most adaptable to my riding style and wants in a sled......and damn that motor is sweet!
Yamahnator,
I don't know how many miles a year you put on your sled. But if I had the chance to ride half as much as the magazines do I would be in heaven. These so called writer's first, are probably bigger gear heads than most of us on this website. Thankfully they have editors that make there story readable for you and I. So to say they are writer's first, well i will just shake my head and laugh. As for never been fans of Yamaha, once again I will shake my head and laugh.
Guys, all the magazines are written and edited by people that are heavily involved in the snowmobile world, and LOVE snowmobiling. If you think these guys get rich from putting these magazines out sorry you are wrong. They do it for the love of the sport, we can thank them once again for all having different articles and tech information, just like they make different sleds for a variety of people. Just like we appreciate Mr. Sled for hosting this site, he doesn't have to but he does it because he obvioulsy loves the sport (and thankfully Yamaha's!) Same goes with all the input we get from our supertuners and product manufacturer's that we are lucky enough to have on this site. Most of them are diehards just like us who ride whenever they can. As for one magazine favouring one manufacturer over another, it does nothing to benefit any magazine in the industry to be brand biased. They remain neutral to give everybody a fair comparison in the industry from all the manufacturers. Every one has an opinion on every sled out there, who's to say yours, mine or there opinion is right. That's the luxury of having so many different brands, classes, and styles of machines. TO EACH HIS OWN!
