Yesturday I decided to begin work on adding the Mtn. riser to my RTX, when I went to pull it out of the trailer I did my normal start-up routine.
Turn key to on, wait until the instrument panel does it's calibration dance thing, Then turn the key to start. It started ran a little rough for about 5 seconds and then shut down. I was amazed this has never happened before it always started instanly and ran as expected. I turned the key to off waited then repeated my start-up proceedure again, this time it wouldn't even fire.
It was random with it running for a few seconds and then other times not even starting.
After what seemed like an eternity(mabee 10 min.) of this nonsense it finally started and ran, but it didn't have the smooth idle it normally has until after a minute or two.
Just for some background info; the 29th of Jan. I returned from Baraga U.P. were the conditions were less than desireable the last day. On the last day the Temp Light came on just as I was pulling it into the trailer. From there it was trailer home and sat in the driveway in 50+ degree weather untill 2 days ago when the temp droped to 22 degrees. I did notice quite a bit of frozen moisture inside the trailer. Also there was about a half a tank of gas in it.
This defenently suprised me and I was wandering if anyone else has ran into this problem. Is it drastic change in weather, towing for 8 hrs., frozen moisture in the intake???

Any ideas?

Do you have fuel shut offs? Might have got a little flooded towing for that long. Or the temp fluctuation created excessive moisture / condensation in the engine. Might have messed up the ECU/EFI for a bit. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

No I ment to mention that I don't have a fuel shut off. After this happened I was thinking mabee I should add one but it dosen't make sense with the fuel injection. If there is no signal to the injector fuel should never make it past and enter the intake/cylinder. Maybe I'm wrong about how this fuel injection works.

sounds like stale fuel. I had the problem and put a bottle of carb/fuel injector cleaner in it with about 2 gallons of gas. Kept sled running for about Five minutes and it cleaned up. Injectors were clogged.

Did this happen before or after you added the Mountain riser? I added the mountain riser to my sled and the stock throttle cable is not long enough (the mountain throttle cable is on backorder) It caused bad idle especially when I turned the handle bars.

My guess would be that if you have already installed the bar with the stock cable it is activating the TORS and shutting down cylinders...

Good luck.

No I hadn't add the riser yet, I was just pulling it in the garage to begin the changeover. One thing thats odd is a guy ridding with us in Baraga had trouble getting his F7 started after we stopped for a break. It took about an hour and a half of tooling to get it runing again and when it finally did run, no one had a clear idea of what fixed it. Also I found out yesturday that he is still having problems. Maybe dirty gas or something?

Do you know how long the wait is expected to be for the Mtn. cables?

Thanks
