My how quickly things can change AGAIN...The dealer gave me a MUCH too-quick diagnosis it seems. After the insurance company chatted with him, he spent some time draining water out of the motor, putting in fresh oil, and seeing it it would run. He says it's running like a top!
Since the motor is reportedly running strong, he says insurance will simply be paying to replace any submerged electronic components (not much...tail end only, and the seat) and he'll do a couple oil changes to ensure all the water is out of the motor, and she'll be back on the trail again in short time. I might dry the seat out myself and cancel the insurance claim...this doesn't even sound like it will be all that expensive.
He said he totally agrees it probably didn't actually SUCK water in, but water likely just poured in thorough the exhaust? So there's no actual internal engine damage from hydrolock as they initially thought there was. Whoo hoo!
