Just got back from Island Pond VT. My friends 07 Apex Gt's running boards got so warm it began to melt the bottom of his boots. Has anyone had this happen? The temp light was not on at any time during the weekend ride. However, he says he hardly moves his feet. I never thought it would melt boots.

speaking of hot, i sold my apex mtn 07 and got an attak 07, hand warmers were luke warm cold on the mtn and the attak is actually hot!! its like i won the yamaha lottery and i have a model out of thousands with proper working (stock) warmers. (of course im probably wrong!)

Had the same problem with mine. You know it's hot when you can feel it through your boots! I put the rear heat exchanger on and changed the mixture with just slightly more water and it seems to help me a lot.
I let the sled idle for a while after the install and before it would have turned off a lot sooner but if seemed to run forever after rear heat exchanger install.

Yep,
My 04 Warrior melted my boots heels.
Light never came on with it either.
No problems, sled still being used by a buddy today.
Just nice toasty feet.

when i got mine 06' Attak, it was over heating big time, i drained all the anti-freeze out went with a 50/50 mix, never over heated again and the running boards don't get as hot , i don't know how they come from the dealer, but mine was prepped with there feet, horrible job

Yup!! Heat exchangers really get warm when your really runnin' down the trails at a fairly good clip and there isn't much snow to be kicked up from your skies. Usually I am well ahead of the crew anyhow (HEHE) so I just stop @ the edge of the trail and put some snow on both running boards.

I also found on my new LTX that the extension behind the seat where the rear heat exchanger is mounted is very very hot also. Doesn't some of these accessorie bags that Yamaha sell mount there......??????
