Looking to take my 121 to 136 not sure what it all takes and where to get my parts from.I know i need tunnel ext. and rail ext. Do I need any extra wheels or bracing ?Do you keep all your stock shocks or have to change any mounting location for anything. Also where to buy these things for a fair price?Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.Yeah I know I need a track to.

All you need to extend to a 136" is rail extensions, longer track and a tunnel extension. I can help you with the tunnel extension part (see signature for link to custom parts).

I have done this mod a few yrs. back:
Tracks USA rail extensions $89 (they're quite beefy and extend the hyfax)
MPI tunnel extension $210 (Gade-Thrashers looks decent as well.)
Good-Used 136" Rip-junk $250
Cheap and dirty works but if I had to do it over, I'd go right to the 136" Expert-X with revalved shocks, and a predator track.

i thought if you extend a 121 mono it doesnt work right because of some geometry deal or something like that , so a person can extend a 121 too a 136 like normal and no problems then correct ?

Extending the 03 and 04 121 proactions just require rail extensions. The 05 121 mono should not be extended due to the geometry according to Yamaha.
I have a 05 with rail extensions and ran it all last season 3000 miles no problems. You do have to run the track looser,no ratcheting problems either.
I just orderd the tracks usa extensions,im pulling the hartmans off and going to ebay them.I just like the looks of the tracks usa extensions.

rip-junk 4-fighter? i have had good luck with ripsaws. average 5000+ miles per track. is it a traction issue? i ride on very hard -20'F trails 80% of the time. these tracks grab real hard on a cold nite. never had one blow once even with alot of 8+ mile wot runs.

I only got 800 miles out of my 121" before the side lugs got mangled. I have seen both good and bad results with ripsaws. I would rather have the non-finger, predator style next time. More consistent 1.25" throughout. But as long as this 136" doesn't delaminate or shred lugs it'll do.

Yikes! I just Hartmanized my '05 shorty to 136" due to alot of positive comments about extending the track on this site.
Fullback says it won't work due to suspension geometry. However, Steve 05 RX1 says he's done it and it works fine.
Anybody else with an '05 done this modification and what were the results?
I'd have a hard time believing Tom Hartman would sell a kit that's known not to work.

Dave, I was just relaying what Yamaha had published about it. If people have done it and it works I would be more inclined to follow their advice.

No problem and you're probably right.
Anyway, that's what this site is about, information exchange.
But, I sure would feel better if a couple of guys with '05's who did the extension chime in with positive results.

I did a 136 to 151 extension on an Attak with monoshock suspension last season using Hartman Inc components and everything was top notch! I put 700 miles of hard hill climbing, tree stump jumping, and general western riding with no problems. There should be no problems stretching your monoshock from 121 to 136. You'll have a great setup using the Hartman components!

Thanks!
Tom was great to work with. He asked several questions on the type of riding I do and suggested I go to 8 inch exo drivers, fully clipped Ripsaw and Simmons ski's. If it works as great as it looks I'm set for the season.
