I just bought a used RX-1 and an ECP kit. I'm new to Yammies.
Yes I know there is a clutch kit for it and it is awesome, but it costs too darn much. I plan on altering the stock clutch too work better. I have scanned through all the clutching tips I could find and here is what I want to try. Please give opinions and suggestions:

I read the stock clutching work pretty good with the ecp kit and the additional power. Here is the set up I want to try.

Stock Weights
Stock heavy middle rivet (to shift quicker in mid range for added power)
Remove all tip weight (let it rev out alittle more on top end, 10,300)
Stock front primary spring
Stock secondary helix
Replace secondary spring to silver (less force to allow quicker up shift with added mid range power)

My premise is the stock setup works well with the added mid range of the ECP kit. The stock RX-1 under revs and removing the tip weight will allow it to go to 10,300, ecp adds little to top end so it should be OK.
Should still engage at stock revs, which is good, and heavy mid rivet will help with added mid range power.

??????????

Try it with only the tip rivet removed and use a white secondary spring (the one that came stock on the Warrior).

Run stock weights with tip rivet removed..silver Yamaha secondary spring at 80 degree wrap. You will be surprised how well this combo works.

Anyone have a pic of this rivet...I don't know exactly what I'm supposed to remove, and don't want to take out something imprtant.

Look under the Technical Pages.
Then under the Snowmobile Tech, under Clutching ang Jetting, then under Rivets and Rollers. There is a picture there that shows the clutch weight. The "TIP" rivet is the one that is labeled "OUTER".
Removing this will allow the engine to spin up on the top end.
