Does anyone know if the RX-1 ignition system is a CDI or TCI (inductive) system? TCI collapses an already charged coil by disconnecting it. These systems generally use a higher resistance type coil. CDI sends a brief high (200+) voltage pulse to an uncharged coil. These systems tend to use low resistance coils.

Not sure about the above, but you do need a fully charged battery to get full coil charge. This is why they don't start well if the battery is down. Put a jump on it and they fire right up.
