Yamaha has come out with an RX-1 slider kit for the noisy clutches. It consists of 3 plastic sliders which are fitted with O-rings on their back side, it will help in keeping tension between the sliders and the clutch towers therefore making for a quieter clutch. They are installed only on the right side of the towers. It does quiet down the clutch but you will still hear the gear mesh noise. Much quieter for only $13.00 plus installation.
My bro installed a set on his sled and I was not a believer until we compared sleds before and after !! RX-1 slider kit is written on the wrapper that came with it.

MikeB and RXfun,
I shall post the info later today once I pick up my clutch from the dealer.
Mighty,
Sure is,5800 miles and the only items replaced so far are.
Driveshaft bearing
Jackshaft bearing
Belt (Didn't really need one)
20-30 studs
couple of wheels.
But of coarse I ride it easy !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! except for when I beat on it !!

That fix is so simple yet it works good. Got one of those kits installed last February, here is a thread on it.

Thanks Tork,
I read the thread and noticed that the fix was mostly for the 3 cylinder sleds, or so I thought, until I saw and heard for myself.
After borrowing a carb sync meter from DaveRX1 and hearing the fix before and after from my bro, I am here to say that my idle is back down to 1000 and it has never been this quiet !!!

Do the 06's come with this mod already? I had the left side cover off with the sled running while I was metering wires looking for a 12v line to tap into for my heated shield and thought it was pretty noisy. I must admit that I never got that close on either my RX-1 or Warrior (side off, sitting on the floor with my head a few feet away). It quieted right down as soon as I gave it some throttle. I can't really tell if itis the clutch or reduction gears. Setting on the sled with the covers on it doesn't seem any noisier then my others were.

Mighty,
I do not know if this kit is installed on the 06's, but I can tell you that a visual of the clutch sliders with the clutch cover off shows a diffrrence between the original slides and the slider kit slides. Top view shows that the kit style has a thinner angled arm part of the slide than the original slides.
All I have to say about those 06's is WOW !!!! Lucky Guy !!
