my 2003 rx-1 with a 1,500 miles on it has developed some serious problems. First off I would like to say this sled has always been very well taken care of and never abused. I started getting a engine warning light flashing and the sled started running funny ie no throttle response and very boggy. I read the code and it said malfunctioning hand warmers. I'm not sure why this would effect the way the engine ran??? So I shut it off and came back to start it and when I did the gauges stopped working, so I shut it off again and then It wouldnt start, crank but no fire, by this time I was getting really frustrated so i put it away and the next day tried starting it and it fired up but still the light and no throttle. I tore the wiring harness apart thinking something wore through but found nothing. Any ideas?? Any help at all would be great!!!! Thanks

check the plugs that go into the rectifier & regulator assy its the electrical box that has the fins on it they get water in them clean & dry then put in dialectric grease in them.it will do all sorts of weird thing when water gets in there.

I can't remeber for sure, but I think there is a problem with the wire harness down by the battery area that would chafe and give problems.

Not in the battery area. Ahead of the battery area in the "beer can" area. The problem was with a small white wire rubbing against the cast bulkhead. The damage is usually very small, a little hot glue and electrical tape will seal the wire up, then slip on a wire protector to prevent future abrasion.
