Can I replace the rear steel shock with a revalved KYB maybe from a Viper and expect any significant improvment in performance. I would like to put an edge suspension in, but time and money are in short supply. How about a used aftermarket shock upgrade, or is the ProAction just too poor?

shock

i replaced the rear shock with an oilin,s what a diff. got it off the ee form used. there are lots of spring op,s for the stk shock or the viper shock as well. there are op,s.

dmaxx, you may want to check in tech section, many different options for this shock over the years. I bought a 02 viper shock and had pioneer perf revalve. worked great! In early 03 yammaha was giving 02 viper owners new shocks, and the dealers didn't have to return them. Many were selling these cheap. I got mine for 25 bucks! Look around you can make this skid work fine. Just keep playin with it till you like it. Honk

I just bought 02 stiff Viper rear shocks with low mileage. Will they work as is or should I do some adjusting with the spring and adjust the FRA to make this work?

send to Bruce at pioneer performance. tell him your specs and he will set you up. Huge diff!!

In my experience with the proaction, the best performing setup was the late 90's XTC. I had a 600 that could ride circles around the SX and later the SXR and Viper. I'd say the reworked Viper setup was second. I don't know how the front skid shock would work out with the 4stroke weight. Of course you had to buy aftermarket adjustable transfer rods.

Throw the No-action suspension away and get yourself a mono at a swap meet, No comparrison in ride quality plus cheaper than a new aftermarket skid I paid $550.00 for my 06 mono at a snow show, put it in my 03 RX and made a totally different sled out of it.

:die =================== LaLaLa =-------------------------- :nos

Too late for swap meets now, and would likely put and Edge suspension in anyway if I had the extra time and money. I will make the Viper REAR shock work for this year, I didnt plan on changing the front.

Would love to get a mono but still some kinks and the cheapest I have found is around $1000. I bought a edge BRAND NEW for $300 and will re-valve the shock and install. I'm hoping for m10 like ride and not screw up the handling. We'll see...
