Recently talked to a 05 RX1 owner who has a turbo installed. He says it has been great with few problems other than running a bit hot. Very fast and for the most part reliable. I then asked him if he had ever been beat?
He was truely honest and said yes, to a 05 Mach Z with Nitros. So now we know, the Mach is faster stock than a stock RX (and I mean the way you buy them, no clutch kits, filter kits etc) and faster modified, even though I would not want the Mach for fear of big motor explosion.

Thats pretty broad, sweeping statement.
There are several turbo kits available that take the RX from 180 hp all the way to 350 hp.
You are right about the Mach and motor explosions. Those things have a hard enough time holding together in stock form, I cant see them lasting very long with NOS.
This past winter I attended a radar run at Cruiser Fest in Minocqua, WI. There was an '05 Mach Z there and it didnt turn in any faster times than any of the stock 700s did. In fact, there were several 700s (an SX Viper and SX 700R included) that actually ran a few mph faster than the Mach did.
The best the Mach ran was 75 mph in 660 feet.
In comparison, the best speed for a stock sled was an '01 600 XC that ran 86 mph in 660 feet.

This post is meaningless without details . Traction conditions etc.
Some peoples turbos don't run as good as others .

Mach Z with NOS; fun until the motor says BANG!

NOS doesn’t last long... find a big lake and find the Mach fall on its face when the happy gas is empty if the motor doesn’t takes a burp first.
Although I have no experience with NOS, I would question how to setup a sled to full potential that only has a short time of squirt. If a Mach on NOS and a Turbo RX both have 200 hp, I would guess the RX-1 turbo would be setup for 200 hp where the Mach Z has to stay setup for 165 hp since the happy squirt doesn’t last long.
Reliable and trailable 190-240 turbo HP is where its at

the rx1 must not have been running much boost or not tuned right, I just stomp the crap out of ub900,s and psi995,s on nos, tell the guy to get his sled running right and turn the boost up there is no reason he should be beat by any twin on nos.
