just put 80 miles on my new rx-1. peak rpm are at9100, will this number cilmb as the engine breaks in? I know it wants to spin at 10100 but have yet to sync carbs and don't want to start adjusting clutches if not needed. First yammi I have owned, long time AC rider.

Wow ........the first thing I would ck is to see if you are getting full throttle .

Stain, you should be getting more rpm than that. Ride it some more and see if it improves. Mine did not turn over 10k rpm while I was first breaking in but it it did loosen up...., but it should do better than what you are seeing. I would be looking at all the set up stuff to see if something screwed up such as clutching, carbs, gearing, drive train....but run it a few hundred miles before you get to worried.

i would put the first 300mi. on it before worrying about top rpm. then it should hit app. 9200 to 9500 on take off and climb to about 10000. rpm will increase as engine breaks in and loosens up(min 1000 mi.) this info applys to stock clutching.

My 05 RX-1 wouldn't even hit 9000 during the first 50 or so miles (very short low-medium speed WOT runs).
Even at 500 kms (broken in - according to Yamaha) it was only seeing around 9300-9400 shortly off the line and topping out around 9800.
Now with 1450 kms on it the rpms are 9500-9600 shortly off the line and at higher speeds they are 10,300.
The sled is 100% stock.

RX1er 05 1300 km (780 mi) rpm when it was new 9600. Now with ecp filter kit and 57.5 dalton 52 r46 helix black/blue spring turning 10800 I think its to high (118 m.p.h) . Maby I will need 60 grams to get down to 10500 . What do you think guys.

RPM
I have 75 miiles on mine and it also is only turning about 9100 rpm, as some others have said i don't think I will get to worried until after a few hundred miles.
I am leaving for Michigan on Monday for our first trip of the year, should get at least another 300mi on it, i will report back on wether the rpm improved or not.

I have the same sled, same setup, except heavy hitter weights that come in about 62.5 gms, and mine gets to 10-2, 10-3 pretty quick and stays there, although I haven't held it more than 5-7 seconds yet. It has 250 miles now. It should do more than 118 on the speedo, from what I've been reading.

Guys, get them completely broken in first. PLUS what you are seeing is symptomatic of the stock clutching...........for those of you that are still stock. After my 03 LE was broken in I was still only seeing 9600 - 9800 when everybody else was talking 10300 - 10500. I installed speedshop's clutch kit w/heavy hitters and immediately the revs would jump to 10300 - 10400 and stay there. And that's with my big ### on the sled
Give it some time gentlemen ............. and enjoy!!!
