Ok Guys, I have an 03 rx1 mountain, sled dog airbox mod with heavy hitter clutching in primary. Pulls great up to 85 or so and then just flattens out up to about 110 on speedo. Is this normal to slow down so soon? Secondary clutching issue? I know it will slow down climbing but this just seems to be extreme.
Pulling most guys I run up to a little over 80 then they start catching up. I would like to see it pull hard up to 100 even if it won't go any faster once there.
Options other than keeping races short? LOL
Thanks for any thoughts guys!
2" track so not interested in lake racing but, it is more fun to be quick and hold em off up till about 100.

Well the mountian is geared lower and your spinning a 2" x 153" track with hardly any boagie wheels. Are you trying to beat other mountain sleds? most Polaris and Skidoos I have ridden will not go anywhere near 100.

Nah, playing with trail sleds. The only other mountain sled in my group is turboed so that isn't even a contest. I know that it won't run top end with them, I just want to stay up front a little longer. It owns them down low, just would like to stay out there a little further.
Considering a gearing change but looking at other factors first.

Buddy had the same sled with heavy hitters ,cat skid ,k&n filters >jetted of course ,exhaust and studded huge.he added a little 50 wham bam
and his sled went away from start to finish everytime!! left everything hard! when there was someone on him like glue from the start he hit that coolwhip and see ya!

Did he have to rebuild or do anything special to the motor with only a 50 shot?
Yeah, it leaves hard. I haven't found much that will launch with it on snow. I did find a Thundercat that well.... let's just say it wasn't a yamaha win launch, mid, or top.

Engine was not touched, just jetted on the fatter side because of the squirt and clutched heavier .the sled did leave very hard without the hit, think it had a lot to do with the cat skid under it . He was running a 121 with 1.25 -240 1.450 megabites .sleds are heavy we all know, and he would do runs on the lake with 2 gal in it ! Save some weight. The sled really did take off like a scared rabbit !! Even more so on the juice!
