I have a 2003 rx1 and it is not charging. Put a new battery in because the other one was 7 yrs old. After a few starts and 50 miles it was dead. Found the regulator was not charging at 14v when running at 5000rpm. Took off the regulator and put it on my wifes rs rage and it works fine. Could this be a stator problem or some other commom problem on these rx1s. Also checked the main fuse relay and it is working fine too. Checked the main red wire and it is fine too. We have snow and I want to ride!! Please help.

have you checked the wires under the tool box by the hindge? supposed to be a common problem for a rub through there.

the wire look good there-getting ready to take the oil tank off and check wires from the stator-unless there is an easier way?

How about you check the resistance on the wires the way instructed in the service manual?

We cheked the resitance from the stator and the pick-up coil as they say in the service manual-they all seem to be in the ball park-
Just a reminder we have a new battery fully charged and my regulator works fine on my wifes machine-would it be worth swapping cdi box from one machine to the other or would this have anything to do with it?

Not sure if we are testing the stator right. With my ohm meter set at 200(my lowest setting) it reads 1.2 and 1.3. My wifes sled reads .9 on both. Does that mean I have to much resitance meaning the stator is bad?
Also test for short to ground on all the stator wires. another test would be peak voltage tests, but you don't likely have access to an ignition mate or the like. How many miles on the machine? I would get hold of a decent meter, this is something the dealership should be able to diagnose in 15 min.

Check the red wire that comes off the rectifier/regulator -- make sure that it isn't shorted to ground, and that it IS connected to the battery + terminal.
