well im actually posting this for my best friend,, he owns a 2004 RX1 with about 13 000 miles on it,, well this is what up , it has a bad vibration in the handle bars,, the one thing he is lucky is tha his wife owns a RX! also so he has been able to switch parts from sled to sled to eliminate some things,, these are the things that have beed changed,,the clutches and the drive shaft,, last night he removed the belt and found that the vibration is actually coming from engine, looked at the motor mounts and all semmed good, anybody have any ideals?

actually should have said new plugs,, and the carbs were sync not that long ago,,for this guy to be lost it's weird,, i think he should replace engine mounts, but he tells me they look good

try swaping the carbs. if it still does it it might be one of the rx's that i have heard about on here that have the connecting rod bolts come loose. but it is not the carbs it is definitly in the motor unless the track is delaminating.

Well, I too have bad vibration. Yesterday, I removed the primary and the vibration are still there. This morning I'm going to the dealer. He wants to open the reduction gear, He saying there must be a bearing in there. My tech book doesn't show any???

Yeah its got to be in the motor not the mounts - there isn't any really- just flanges in the block and frame that the long bolt passes through in the rear and the 2 bolts go through on the front.

Get it to a deal before he blows the motor cause once that happens he has the worlds neatest paper weight.

I blew mine last spring - Yammy doesn't sell motors and none out there. I spent $6k to buy a wrecked Apex and and build one this summer and just popped that one Saturday in the UP.

Now I have 2 motors with startes pumps and carbs and injection system but no bloocks cranks or heads.

Good News, I'm back in business...

Just came back from the dealer.

With the clutch out, there is a vibration on the handle and that is normal..We tested new Apex and they are worst than mine. Just that wasn't the problem!

We put back the clutch, and did hi-speed track testing. FOUND IT! One of the middle back wheel is not longer supported with a bearing and was loose on the rear shaft. That would produce big vibration at hi-speed.

I had changed all those bearings at the begining of the season (2,800 miles ago). So now, I have 4 new ones.

Tonite, will give a real trail test.

So guys, check those wheels and bearings.

Yummy

Phew thats lucky - easy and cheap to fix I have burnt through 5 wheels along with the rear axle shaft and center wheel so far this year not to mention another motor.

beware if suddenly the machine starts to vibrate in the bars and footwell, last week on my 7 day trip,my sled started to vibrate bad, like an instant change,i kept riding and it seemed to get better so decided to hammer the throttle to see if the vibe would come back, well it came back and much worse, rode another 15 miles and my driveshaft split in half,it was not fun driving at the motel in front of a bunch of guys,i was being towed by a skandic, well the sled is back on track, worked every night this week to get it back in running order, seems like its much smoother now
