I saw an 04 rx1 on a site with a apex seat to improve ride position. Has anyone seen or know what it takes to do this conversion?

To add the apex seat you first need an apex seat and then you also need to cut your gas tank cover. The mountain apex seats are firmer. There are some great threads on this with pics that will walk you through it in detail. If you add the apex seat you will need to add a riser and possibly a mountian throtttle cable.

It is rather easy to do, You can check out mine in the link in my sig.
A little imagination and a few beers and your done.
The only thing that could throw you a loop is cutting the tank shroud. Take your time and it will come out nice

I used a Dremel with a cut off wheel to cut my shroud and came out slick. Finished it with some windshield trim for a real professional finish!

All great advice from these guys!!! They are the ones that stepped me through my Apex seat mod!!! It really is easier than it sounds/looks. Not sure if you got a set of risers yet or not, but I am selling a set of 3.5" Rox risers for $65 if you're interested!!! This is what I've got on my Warrior and I know this is what Sleddheadd has on his and they are perfect for us!!! PM me if you're interested!! Good luck with the mod!!! You're gonna love it!!!

Take a look in my rxrider's turbo garage thread, link found in my signature, it's all covered in there.

- 2007 Attak - LOVE my sled!!!
I made a raised seat with storage out of my RX-1 seat.
DEFINITELY worth doing!
You can see it here:

An Apex seat does the same thing without the work. lol
Added a 6" riser and it was BARELY enough to easily stand for a while.
(I'm 5'10")
(That's why SOBs riser is a bit longer, so he can stand up easily.)
(Besides having more to polish... LMAO)
Only cable I had to change was the throttle cable, any rise more than 2" and you will definitely have to change the throttle cable.
The rest of the cables, you can re-route carefully and they are fine.
Tried 3 different throttle cables before finding the correct one from Kevin at Port Yamaha.
Would suggest getting the correct one from him, tell him what you are doing and he will take care of ya!
(Port Yamaha is an advertiser here, just call him.)

Superman has some really cool risers, just added a longer one from him to my RX-1.
You can find more info here on his risers:

(This thread is for an XTX but he makes them for the RX-1 also)
And Here: http://www.lakeffectsnow.com/
You will love the seating position when you are done!
Hope this helps!

Yeah I have done several now & other than light wiring conector changes & figuring out what you want to do with the exhaust covers and caps the rest is not tough.
I finally went to using masking tape on the tank cover to mark my line and make the cut with a sharp pair of snips. I went as far on the last one to use the black windshield edging along the cut line to keep it from rubbing the seat.
