I would like to gut out my exhaust on my 2004 rx 1, Will I need to rejet my carbs? And will it make my exhaust a lot louder? and what do I have to remove to get exhaust out of sled? any info would be great,
thanks,
Todd

theres a better way

dont gut it, its a huge pain in the butt. Go to the closest muffler shop, get a couple of bottles and weld them on like mine. Very cheap, very cool, and no more burnt boots.

Very interesting kbx. Are you running a Turbo? If not, I would think you would loose torque without a crossover. Also, how could you burn your boots with the stock exaust?

there is no turbo, there is a crossover, and when I was side hilling with the 151 and side exhaust, the boots got burnt everytime.

Very cool. I can't see how you are supporting the rear ends of the bottles..... got any more pics that show exactly how you did this and where in the tunnel they drop through?

I would have to tear the seat off, but am going to the mountains tomorrow. I will get pics later. All we did was weld brackets to the mufflers, and rubber mout them with the factiry bushings. Very easy install.

I have a gutted exhaust I picked up, and although I haven't had it opened up on the trail, I have ripped across the back yard, and I wouldn't say its MUCH louder, just a bit, and a nicer tone. But sound is a matter of personal opinion...just adding mine. I also have a ZRT 800 with PSI pipes and DG silencer. The RX is whisper quiet compared to that! I was actually hoping for a little more aftermarket street bike type of sound, but it still sounds very good. I bought a gutted exhaust, so that I still had my original to reinstall or modify further and experiment with.

Of course, I did the required sound test with the exhaust completely removed, and although it sounded awesome, it was definately too loud.
