Hey all,

I've got an RX Warrior LE, as the subject states. It's only got 500 miles on it, light season last year and horrid season this year.

In january, it wouldn't start at all, battery was dead. By the time i got it replaced, the snow we had was gone. When i was replacing the battery I noticed one of the carbs was completely off of the cyl. I doubt it ran much like this as that would cook a piston pretty quickly, but it may have been run like that briefly when moving the sled around the yard.

I started it up and ran it around a bit and it seemed fine, but due to the lack of snow, I couldn't put any decent mileage on it. Yesterday I ran it about 80 miles, It would not idle, it would shut off. At mid throttle it would pop and mildly backfire on occasion. (Brand new plugs by the way, i changed them when I changed the battery) I pulled 2 of the plugs, and one had a light tan coating on it, the other had a thick coating of tan powder on it (the one that the carb wasn't hooked up to).

I'm pretty sure I need to change the plugs again, but outside of that, does anyone have any suggestions as to where to look?

The gas in the sled is old, from last year. I added half a tank of good gas to it, and it seemed to run a bit better. Should I try putting fuel stabilizer in it? Could the carbs be out of sync? or is there something more serious going on.

Also, I need to use the change the oil, can someone give me a quick overview of how to get to things and what tools I'll need?

Thanks

What do you mean the carb was all the way off.. HOW CAN THAT BE.... ??

Carb just doesnt fall off unless it was messed with..

I found it somewhat difficult to seat those carbs in the boots properly when I rejetted. A bud said to spray brakeclean on them to lube them a bit so they slide on better. That seemed to work ok. It takes once or twice to get the airbox on properly too, but if I can get it, I'm sure you can.

Sounds like your carbs are plugged, or I should say the jets are plugged. Take carbs apart and clean the pilot jets! They are small and plug very easly when not in use. Allen screw on outside front of float bowls will drain fuel from carbs and they will never plug again. This should be done when in storage over the summer months, or when not in use for extened periods of time. Good luck. Mike Knapp #17

You probably also want to change the gas out. I'd also consider a good carb clean, could be varnish from the old fuel in there.

Thanks...

I took the sled in, the jets were nearly completely plugged on 2 carbs, and not in good shape on the other 2. Luckily i did no damage to any of the pistons.

I also had them throw 144 carbide studs in it... now, if only we had more than 1/2" of snow on the ground...
