I listened to the guys on here and didnt get it. So i cant tell you personally if it works or not. But im guessing it wont add any hp. I'd go with the k&n kit from ulmer racing, which has been proven to add 2-3hp!

I tried to find the post, but i know Allen Ulmer tried to modify the stock airbox numerous times, and always lost hp or saw no increase in hp. He spent a few hundred dollars trying to make the stock airbox work. Hopefully someone will chime in on this, or even allen himself.

When it comes to hp increase. I look at dyno charts (proven increases)
I know hurricane performace sells a intake/airbox that has shown hp increase.

I think that the Schmidt lid mod may be on the right track for a couple hp gain but not at top RPM.
The question is was his mod dyno tested?
You will find this dyno chart interesting.
Stock sled vs Pat Hauck lid.

I just purchased the SB air box lid mod parts, seems logical after talking with Chris, colder air coming into the engine, more hp. Interesting I asked Chris about a dyno and he said you wont see the gain on the air box mod inside on a dyno as the air is not cooler like when you are running on the trail... makes sense. I have put other air intake mods on other off road vehicles and always swear they do improve things but one of those items hard to demonstrate... will post what I hear and feel on the trail. Also putting the SB Stage I kit on my primary.

I have them on my sled and he told me the same things as Hooray. I rode all last winter with them and I believe my throttle response was more crisp. I don't know how much HP gain there was but it seemed to me anyways to make things a tad smoother.

That's good to hear Deep... the dyno only shows air intake updates when it is a flow only improvement, cool air and flow do make a difference, why hellcats use the AC to cool the incoming air! Glad to hear there was a seat of the pants impression.

Yeah I did it more for the cold air part not so much for higher flow. Cold air is more dense which will give you better or more HP so you don't always need higher flow. But usually the two kinda go together. That's good to hear Deep... the dyno only shows air intake updates when it is a flow only improvement, cool air and flow do make a difference, why hellcats use the AC to cool the incoming air! True, maybe find a free flowing air filter inside an SB modified box. I was looking at the cool air grills you can buy for the hood, I bet that would drive cool air right to the airbox but I might be afraid of fine powder snow.
