When I was riding in REALLY cold temps (-35C) I noticed that my chin was kind of cold and my forehead between my eyes and the top of my helmet.

Tonight, I turned my helmet upside down and I when I took my chin curtain off my helmet I noticed the breath box was inserted BETWEEN the 2 foam cheek pieces which left 2 small openings that air can enter on each side. I also noticed that there was a piece of velcro with WHITE backing still on it so the mouth piece wasn't stuck to the actual helmet. This would have let tons of air enter the mouth area from underneath.

I pulled the chin cushions back and stuck the sides of the breathbox UNDER them which seemed to fit better. I then took the backing off the velcro and stuck it to the helmet. Now when my mouth is in the breathbox it's sealed.

Check yours!

found the same thing on mine, i also found that the screen mesh that the chin curtain is made of in the front creates a cold draft. thinking of having someone sew a solid piece of cloth there.

Yep...I found the same, and it seems to be how all these helmets are delivered. Also I'd encourage everyone to read their owners manual for these helmets. You'll find that the vents in the head are completely useless straight out of the box...if you want to be able to open them for more airflow you need to pull back the helmet liner and remove 4 styrofoam plugs that are under there. Otherwise the vent holes are plugged from the inside, and opening the outside vents does nothing for increased airflow.

i pulled those plugs out from under the liner, i'm going to put them back in. it never fogged on me until i took them out.

I have mine taken out.
I havent had this shield fog yet.
I really like this helmet.
I will be covering the chin area soon, maybe with tape from the top side.
Nice helmet for the cheap price.
I also have an elec for it, and havent had to use it yet.

I m gonna try duct tape from the top side first to see if it helps.
I think they put that mesh there to duct the exhale out the bottom of the helmet to prevent icing.
Just a thought though. Seems to make sense, even though it makes for a very cold chin.

let me know how the duct tape works. ever since i took the plugs out my shield has fogged up. i'm going to try it today with the plugs back in

I didn't touch the vents and just rode 4 days in -25C to -35C temps and the shield never fogged once. The only thing that I had trouble with was the sunshield freezing in place and not coming down. Other than that, it's an awesome helmet except my chin was cold and I figured that one out so now it works great. The sunshield is the only reason I bought the helmet and I love it.

You guys who have fogging....are you getting the fogging while using the electric shield or do you have non-electric visors?

non electric visor here, was snowing and blowing today, my visor started to come apart. where the 2 lenses are stuck together won't stay. lucky for me the skidoo/yamaha dealer where i got the helmet and my attak is giving me a break on an electric shield for it.

I do not know why my son's and my shields frosted. We had the plugs in the helmet. There was alot of moisture above the lense. Seems like there was no where for the moisture to escape? I also do not think the electric visor was working correctly. Did not think of checking the light at the time. I am going to see what everyone comes up with.

man i had moisture dripping from the accumulation up there when i was riding in -25c weather last weekend.I had to stop and wipe it out with some kleenex, otherwise it would occasionally drip on my face. All in all its a great helmet but has some flaws for sure..

Yea well i have done every thing the helmet still lets WAY to much air in! Not happy!! Now last night my electric visor fogged up so so bad i could not see AT ALL!! SO i rode very very last and rode with the damn thing wide open eating all the damn snow dust!! NOT HAPPY!! And the sunvisor does not work can not see!
