sea foam

Gateway Enterprises in Kamsack Sask. has it.
Ask them to ship it by bus if you need some (they're almost next door to the bus depot).

Holy crap I am going to have to talk to the dude who sells it here he is charging 13.95 a can plus gst.

hey sled thats dealer cost threw the forklift company i work for.just go to napa and say you work for precision, youl get the deal lol

Don't forget that Sea-foam also cleans your carbs and keeps the gas fresh. I put it in my gas on the last ride of the season and once during the season.
I have 9538 miles on the 05RX-1 and it uses NO oil.

Also when I change oil I put in 1/2 Qt less. It seems to like less oil in the tank.

My first try with seafoam in the oil (the only place it might have a chance to decarbonize the oil rings) seems to have been a failure. Still using the same amount of oil. Since I got the wrong oil filter, and had to reuse the old one I'm going to try again, and leave it in the oil longer this time (about 1.5 hour use last time). Put in about 1.5 oz / quart or about 3/4 cup right in the oil tank (pretty scary eh?). If that doesn't work I may spring for some ring free and try the suggested "shock treatment" if I can find the thread again describing it. BTW, I put it in the gas at the same time. One time I even pulled the plugs and put it directly down the plug hole (2 Tbsp each) and let it sit a few hours. Turn it over a couple of revs every so often (cover the plug holes or it sprays everywhere). Can't hurt, but didn't seem to help.

Solution, use cheaper oil...

Seafoam on sale at napa in mich. for 3.99 a can. I bought 30 cans. I put it in everything I own. Stuff works great. My buddy put it in his diesel truck an swears he picked up 3 miles to the gal.

Just bought some in Winnipeg at Piston Ring for about $14. I used some in my '03 this past season both in the gas and in the oil just before an oil change. It definitely decarbonizes the motor judging by all the carbon sprayed out the exhaust while it idled to warm up. The oil absolutely went black. This stuff and oil changes more often than the 2000K interval that is recommended is good insurance for the motor IMO. By the way, the idle speed increase about 200 RPM after the treatment. I didn't have any issues with the motor at all but just did all this as preventative measures and also on the advice of those on this forum who have used it to success. Also have a buddy who used it on an older higher mileage truck motor with surprising success.

I use the stuff in my gas tank in my old car and my boat. I have yet to use it in my sled but next year I will probly run some through the gas tank a couple times. I dont think I will put any in the oil yet since I dont have any problem with oil burning yet. I hate to put anything but oil in the oil tank unless I need to do something.

does anyone run it in their oil tank regularly???

I finally got my hands on some from Carquest in North Bay and my experience was pretty much the same as Snomad's. Still a little early to say about the oil consumption (it was late in the season) but it sure cleaned it up.

i used seafoam for the first time the other day.not clear on how to use it in the oil.do you have to wait when its time to change the oil or wait until oil level is low then fill up with seafoam.

I think the idea is to just leave it in there long enough to clean out all the carbon gunk (ie a tank of gas max) and then change your oil and filter. My oil was really dirty after! If you do a serach of the forums you'll find a couple good threads on rec'd treatments and the way other guys have run it with success.

The stuff works. My '91 Honda Nighthawk was running a little rough on a cold startup and I knew I had to get the carbs cleaned, instead I put SeaFoam in the next couple of gas tanks and it's purrin' like a kitten now.
