Seafoam works!!

one can can do from 30-60litres. so use it as you wish, cant harm anything due to it being a petroleum product. I usually add a whole can before sledding season and one full can with it through the system and in the tank for storage during the summer.

Guys:

I just posted a Sea Foam Q in a seperate topic, but I'll pose the same Q here....

Here it goes:

Sea Foam claims it is great to be used in the crank (motor oil). It even says it is fine for long term use in the crank -- good for bearings, motor seals, removing water/ humidity, etc.

Anybody ever try this long term in the motor oil. I know some have said they add it a few hundred miles before an oil change, but I would think the benefits would be better had in new, clean motor oil.

What is everybody's thoughts? Think it would dilute oil/ compromise engine protection? Sea Foam says right on the container to do this, but I'm skeptical. But i just did an oil change and my oil is fresh, so now would be the time to do it.

Just wondering is anybody has thoughts on this........

I've been a long time user of sea foam. I had an old I/O boat that wasn't running very good. put in a can and made a huge difference. Since then I've been using it in lots of motors, 2 and 4 stroke and it works great in them all. Never put it in the oil, just the gas.. I know it says you can but I hate to put something that thin in the oil, seams like it would loose viscosity.. But the stuff sure works good in the gas....

BTW.. We have a little auto parts store locally that sells it for $5.95/can.. I buy a case about twice a year.. Best price I've seen.

btw, it seems most are advising (or maybe just too squeamish like me) to put Sea Foam right into the oil/ crank itself.

I did a little more researching. And while I'm not going to pour any Sea Foam into the crank, there is a view out there that it is very beneficial, despite the fears it will dilute the oil.

Some say oil viscosity is not harmed because the Sea Foam itself will evaporate out rather quickly, but in the process removes moisture and cleans up stubborn deposits.

I guess it works so well you usually have to change the oil quickly because your oil will be really, really dirty from releasing all of the varnish, gunk, deposits, etc. from your motor, seals and crank.

Any volunteers?

I put it in my lawnmower and boom erratic idle is gone. Put it in my 04 ford f150 in the crankcase and ran it for a half and hour and drained everything. Put some in the intake too. Fixed the slow idle vibrations and made cool white clouds of smoke down the street while it was working itself out. A magical product some would say

That stuff works AWESOME, been using it in all our vehicles and toys for some time now. In the vehicles, usually a can every oil change. As for the toys, usually put some in now and then to keep everything dry and running great. Only tried putting it in the oil once. Put it in and drove to my parents place(160 miles) then changed the oil, I didn't really notice a difference so I'm not sure if it helped or what. Also for all you paying $14 a can, go to farm & fleet or fleet farm! They usually have it on sale for 2 for $13 or about $6.50 when it's not on sale. Great prices there!!!

FYI- Seafoam also has a product called TRANSTUNE. Again works very well, had a weird leak on the front of the tranny on my dad's 7.3 diesel excursion. I put the entire bottle in and a quart of ATF(it was low) and drove it some to get it working. Over a few days I kept a eye on it pretty close. The leak went away and the truck did shift a little better. It prob needs a new seal in the front of the transmission, but it stopped the leak and is operating smoother now. Just want to share some other seafoam products out there. Have fun out there :die

SeaFoam does work. I have been in the power equipment industry for 12 years now. We sell it to many people. If the computer here at work is correct about 20-24 cases a year. Never had someone complain that it did not do what we said it would.I used in my boats long before.
I have used it many time in my 4-wheeler's engine after it went swimming. 3 times I do delive. It really helped get the residual H2O out of the cranckcase. NO engine probs ever!.
A quick note on the 2-stroke oil in the 4cyl engine. I do it all the time. I run it in my truck. I run it in my lawn tractor engine. THats all it runs! Run it in the log splitter. I run 2stroke fuel in all my 4cyl engines. NO carbon build up!!!! I run it my sleds at the end of the season. I have yet clean the carbs in my RX. Just a note on my experiances.
