Noticed the differance last week. My seat is rubbing and tearing along the overhang on the tunnel. Newer apexes have the seat up off the tunnel and have an extra mount or cover in the rear. I am thinking of adding some height to my 2010 seat to match my mtn taller bars so I was wondering if I can raise the seat up? install new mount? or maybe the guys in blue have already done it on the newer sleds's Has any one tried this?
Let me know what you guys think? Mine is the Black pic,Blue pic is the 2013 and notice how the seat is up off the tunnel !

Anything can be done but I don't see it as being easy. The 2 seats mount very differently, the new ones bolt down thru the tunnel, the old one sort of ties to the back behind the tail light. Also, in the front they hook under the gas tank, if you raised the seat I don't know how you would make it hook under the tank. Seems like it would be a lot of fabricating.....

Just a note bro my 2011 Apex SE has seat wear in the same place as yours I believe. Still happens with the newer ones too. Got mine used so not 100% sure if something else might have caused it but sure looks like the same wear I've seen on other Apexes.

Thanks for the input guys, I was thinking of just raising the back area of the seat? I plan on taking the seat off and checking out soon. Other wise I will just add extra foam to were I sit the most toward the back. 2 inches higher should be about right. On my 03 RX1 I added 2 in and it made it perfect and just stretched the factory seat cover. I will let you know what I try and or find.
Thanks again
Terry

if you just raise the back wont you have a horrible looking gap where the seat meets the exhaust covers?
i tried cushioning the area where it rubs the tunnel and wears the seat cover with adhesive backed high density foam.
it made no difference.
my seat is actually wearing into my tunnel.

Yes, totally different with the new being way easier. I just timed it, 30secs and the seat is off, 2 bolts in the trunk that secure the seat to the muffler heat shield and its off......

RTX, It looks like they already did that in the newer models see the blue pic above. The seat my be molded a little differant. I just hate having the seat rub and tear every season plus I want more height.
Sx7001, sounds great maybe I can mount mine that way if i need too> Could you post some pics of the difference,
Thanks
Terry

repaired seat yesterday, added 1 inch of foam to my seat ( Had it on hand) stretched and stapled added some extra material on the sides were it had pulled apart. Should be good for the rest of the season. sorry didn't get pics of seat repair but will take one of finished top of the seat on the sled soon. Even 1 in of foam seems to of improved the rider height and more but cush !
