This may be a stupid question but I want to make sure things are okay before I start my machine. This is the first time I played with the secondary clutch. I noticed when I went to change the spring that the ramp on the helix and the ramp on the cam (?) were touching. I put in the silver spring, set my twist to 70 and the ramps don't touch anymore.
Is this okay ??
Thanks

Nope, that doesn't sound right. When you re-assembled your clutch, did you pre-tension the spring (clockwise) to get the ramps of the helix over the ramps on the sheave?

like lkracer said twist your helix to the right till the bolts line up with the next available holes. If you are doing it yourself you may have to shim something behind the sec. because it will want to open up as you apply preasure.

I did twist the helix to the right so the holes would line up and did leave the secondary on the sled. I will take it back off and try again. Thanks for the input.

Sounds like you did it right then. Check to see that you belt isn't down in the secondary a bit. They usually are after putting on a belt...

I just looked at it. The helix is on the right side of the cam. I have to move the helix about 1/4" counterclockwise to hit the ramp on the cam.
I do not have the belt on though I will try that to see if it helps.

I did the same exact thing. Take the bolts back out and twist it when you re-install the bolts.
