When shilling the secondary to adjust the belt higth can I double up on the shims? Also I am running an ultimax XS and their web site says to run the cord at the top of the clutch, but the owners manual says only .5mm above. With the taller caugs on te xs han the yamaha belt i am already at the .5 before the cord. Which is correct?

yes you can add the shims i always run the belt .5mm to 1mm above as long as the clutch does not make a noise .

i've always just ran it as high as i can without getting any noise or creeping.

what is the total shim thickness you can use?

You can use as many shims/ washers as you need, but you should only need 1 or 2 on each bolt behind the secondary to get your belt riding just on top of the secondary, if your bely is reasonably new.

Older belts will need more shims.

you should also messure your belt when the belt wear done to 32mm i think you need to replace it.

I will. Out of 190 total miles I have 50 on the yamaha belt and the rest on the XS. They are the same spec now.

Is there a touque (sp) for the shim bolts. The dealer says to just reef them tight??? But it's alum and I'm not loving that anser.
