just put on my ulmer clutch kit today 
and i was looking at my secondary and it looks like the belt is running low in the sheve. shouldnt it ride with about a 1/8in sticking up? mine the back of the belt is below the edge of the sheve by about the thicknes of a dime is this normal?

i think your ok. i don't think it should be above the sheve.

If you have reverse and the new belt according to Yamaha you run it below the sheave.Helps with reverse engagement.They may have put new belt and lower height on all of them even without reverse by now.

If you dont have reverse I would recommend you run the belt higher.
