But it can be done easy enough with skid in sled. Either on it's side or sitting normal. 6 in one half dozen in the other. Since I'm not liking to turn the FX Nytro on it's side much...
Get a small 4x4 block or ever a sled dolly place it towards the front of the rail (about the front wheels) sit on sled to compress front shock (this will give all the slack you should need in the limiter strap. Now 2 10mm wrenches and take both lock nuts and washers (leave the bolts in the strap makes it easy to line up the next holes) move to the next hole (less than 1/2") reinstall washers and locking nuts tighten done! (oh IF you are running so much front track shock spring preload that the shock fully extends when you get back off the seat you'll need to back it off (and keep it backed off in my opinion but other may differ...)
Here is the deal IMHO the sled rear skid's charactoristic changes so much in the first 200-300 miles DON'T spend much time fine tuning it now! Go put some miles on it .... find out what IS working for you and what is NOT working and we might can help you!!
I don't feel anyone is going to be able to give exact settings to put into your sled and it'll be perfect for you... It's just not that simple and IF it was that simple that's the way they would come from the factory without the ablity to make adjustments for EACH or our different riding styles.
Again go ride it and understand what your sled IS doing whether it be what you like or dislike. Trying to set it up in the shop with out knowing where it is (what you like or don't like) is putting the cart before the horse. Not the easiest way to go about things. You have been given enough tips that you should be able to go out and ride then stop to make a SINGLE change out on the trail and test a bit stop and either put that back and change something else and continue until it's closer.
I can only say again (if you are an agressive rider start with everything in the middle and adjust from there!
Just got to thinking about this topic and kudos to you for some of the helpful tips that you give people like this. We may not agree sometimes but I give you much credit for taking the time to do this.
It's a simple thing but some people might never have done it before.

Thanks Yamahnator!
I would like to ride tughill with you guys one time! I would like the trails and bumps just not the amount of people it sounds like you guys get!
Some of us get spoiled up here not having to share our trails with so many people!
Have a great riding season!

n/p 2002 viper This is why forums like these work! I think we all learn things all the time.
Just remember to make one small change at a time, but again don't chase your set up to much the first few rides!

08NitroRTX,
I could not agree more...excellent tip!
I do have a question for you...I put on C&A Razors with a 6" carbide...have 100 studs...I put on the Razors because I was having so many darting issues on my Apex...
Well, I put on a 100 miles of marginal trail riding Tuesday...and the this thing was darting like crazy!?!
If I pull the limiter strap up any notches(which I was going to pull up at least ONE to take some of the weight transfer out) will I not get even more ski pressure?
I haven't even touched my Fox Floats yet...so all suspension adjustments are still 100% stock...
Thanks in advance...

What kind of pattern did you use to go with 100 studs?sstickler said:08NitroRTX said:n/p 2002 viper This is why forums like these work! I think we all learn things all the time.

Thanks for the response lucky_7,
As I said I have not even touched a thing except for the skis...now that I have a couple hundred miles I was going to start tinkering with the front & rear suspension...the stud pattern is pretty much down the middle of the track(dealer did it) and I have no idea what the gauge is at for the shocks right now...

When I got mine wednesday, I took it around the field and imediately tightened the limiter strap 2 places, and that worked nice. Thats the only adjustment I have made, and whats wierd is that my skis don't seem to dart or hunt much. What I AM experienceing is that they push in the corners like a son of a gun, I don't feel comfortable going into corners at even 20 because it feels like the ski won't stay on the trail. I'm going to try some 8 inch carbides on this thing (maybe) and see if that helps. Also am going to play a bit with the pressure of the fox floats tonight to see if I can make it stick a bit better. The limiter strap on stock skis DOES make a dramatic difference, I recommend it for everyone. Hope this helps.
