After reading the tread. I have a new pair of woody's dollies for sale.

dumb question
I've used a lot of different carbides over the years and recently tried the doolies, not bad but they don't last as long as the Bergstroms you claim. Here's the question, do these triples cut down on darting? Indy, what are your thoughts or anyone else with experience of these carbides.
Thanks

Bluedog, If you look in the tech section there is a darting fix section. This fix came directly from Scott Bergstrom. The shims he usually includes (if you ask for them) will cure your darting. He explained how the ski pressure is in the wrong place because of the design of the ski rubber. I have been doing the shim thing on ALL my sleds for quite a while. If you look at your carbide wear pattern, there should be little wear at the front. This front biased wear pattern indicates the need to shim the rear of your ski bumper. Just follow the directions in the tech section. IT WORKS!!! You will be amazed at the difference!

Last year I ran shimmed Bergstroms carbides(not tripples) on my viper and doolies on the wife's viper. We put exactly the same miles (3000) on in the same conditions, the doolies lasted twice as long as the bergstroms.. The doolies also darted a lot less, its easy to tell when you jump from one sled to another. Since the doolies cost twice as much, the cost per mile is about the same, but the doolies handle better.
Just another opinion. Mr. Bergstrom is a really nice guy and his service is great, but I'll be buying doolies this year.

I talked with a few guys last year that had the Dooleys & took them off because they didn't corner as well as a single bar!
A couple of the guys in the same group said they thought it was because the Dooleys were too close to each other & didn't cut a wide enough groove!

I gotta say that I'm surprised not much was said about the Shaper bar considering all the fuss at one time.

Ran shaper bars on my Viper, but spoke to the service manager when I picked up my sled and he suggested the Woodys Dooly..... He said he ran a RX 1 last year , and hated the handling with the regular wear bars, or other carbides. He said the dooly was great, and stopped all the darting also. I am debating wheter to run the shaper bar or the Doooly on my new Vector GT......

- Which one? I have 6
I have used the shaper bars and noticed a difference in the corners. So far so good. They work well and wear well compared with the single Bergstrom blades. There is a noticable difference. As far as darting, I don't have any issues. I am using a set of C&A's Pros on my Warrior. I have yet to try the Bergstrom triples, so I cannot make a comment on them.

The Shaperbars rock as far as I'm concerned. Much better handling and control. Wear thus far has been non-existant.
I haven't had any issues with darting either. Hmmm, no darting, and no track howl......maybe my sled was built on a Tues or something.

Tfin what are you running on the shapers 6"? with your 120 studs. I am thinking of going with 7.5" with 144 studs. I was going to try the triples, buy you can buy 3 pair if shapers fo the price of one pair of them. I also have 2 woodeys dollies in the package but I dont know if I like the idea of the extra weight and some say the dont corner as nice as the shapers.

Due to a cash flow interruption I went with the "Duce Bar" from Stud Boy
$82.00 vs $120.00 for TP's.
Shaper bar with twin carbides mounted close to one another might just be the ticket for me.

danq,
I'm interested to understand if you found the sleds had different characteristics while cornering with the two different types of carbides?
Thanks

No, the OEM's were gone immediately. Had 5000 miles on the Roetins, and they had a tough year too. I'll probably get the Roetins again.
