2006 Yamaha RS Venture
Sled is a 2006 RS Venture. It keeps blowing the rear shock in the skid. Being this is a two-up sled there are virtually no aftermarket shocks listed for this model. Would RS vector or RS Rage shocks work? Sled is used with 2 people a lot so I don't know if they would be heavy enough. Any ideas?

I thought people were using early model Nytro rebuildable shocks as a replacement option.

I dunno. I thought they used the same skid, just longer. Too bad RydeFX doesn't support Yamaha. On a Venture?

On my old Venture I replaced the stock hydraulic with a used gas rebuildable out of a viper... I can give you the dimensions for a 09 nytro XTX rebuildable shock if you need it. (It is also for sale) Also if you don't have gas rebuildables up front you should get a used set of those too...

Please clarify which rear skid shock you need. Do you need the one in the front with the coil spring on it or the the gas shock in the rear?

Travis,
I'd beintereseted in a price to go all aluminum on my 06 rs venture (4 shocks) after you help bwatson out.
Thanks

I called Hygear today. They said the XTX shocks should work in the Venture. They said they see a lot of used Nytro (both RS and FX) and XTX shocks come in with pitted shock shafts and worn out eyes and bushings, so that is something to be aware of. The cheapest rebuildable solution they offer is a Fox shock conversion at $300 per shock. The Axis are $500 per. If you can get something used from Travis in good shape that is the way I'd go, although you'd probably still want to send the shock out for a rebuild and revalve for your application.
