I need to get the shocks rebuilt for my attak. the skid is the mono shock. and the fronts look like the stock cheapies. What is a good price for rebuilding them. I found a craigslist ad in grand rapids mi for $25 to $30+ per shock. Another place called shock therapy in michigan and he quoted $60. I haven't talked to the guy for the cheaper yet.
shock therapy said he would revalve for that price if I wanted. I've been thinking of getting the fat boy spring. If I had the rear revalved would that help stop the bottoming out without changing the spring. If so that could be a big savings.
I'm not really sure if I need it. all the shocks on the sled are shot(13k miles without a rebuild). A basic rebuild might be all I need, to have the set up I will like. I don't know I've never been on a new attak to tell the difference.
One more thing. YAMAHA PARTS ARE A FARGING RIP OFF. $180.00 for the plastic mounting bracket the attaches the lights and dash assembly.
Luckaly I bought a new trailer and I was forced to get insurance for it. the only way I could insure the trailer was to get a policy on one of my sleds.HaHaHaHaHa! YES! YES! Because of that I will be getting it replaced for ONE HUUUNNNDDRREEDD DOLLARS!

My advice would be Pioneer in NY. They did mine last week. I had a heavier spring put on and a re-valve to what Bruce suggested (with the info I gave him). From what I have read and heard, he's one of the best. I only have a few miles on the new set up but can tell you that it made a world of difference. All said and done with shipping I forked out $267.00 but IMO worth every penny.

This link will take you to an eBay auction for a completely done shock that should fit your need. Not a bad price IMO. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/YAMAHA-E ... ccessories

I'm considering doing the cheaper rebuild locally. I would hate to spend several hundred dollars when the sled rides pretty good with wasted shocks.

After 13k miles you will definitely need a rebuild. I have got a rebuild and a revalve for the last two years. The tech reported that the oil was finished both times. You will see a huge difference in ride with the Big Boy spring and a revalve for the rear shock. If you get the spring changed you will need to get the shock revalved or the rebound will overpower the shock and you will be launched off the sled.
Getting this work done to your shock will be the single best thing you can do for the ride. As for where to send it go will the names mentioned ...They have proven themselves to set up the shock for an Apex/Attak.
