2005 RS Vector ER
I'm just wondering if it's possible to remove and/or install the skid shocks with leaving the skid in place on a 2005 RS vector. It has a '06 pro active skid from a RS nytro in it which is the same as stock besides rear shock and stiffer springs. Looks like there's room to get to the bolts but looks like and actually doing can be different. Just wondering if anyone has been successful at it. I hate removing this skid. Putting back in sucks.

hmm. i know on my 11 apex xtx, i can change the shocks in the sled. the front one is the pita one as i have to pull the lower shaft to remove 1 wheel to get the lower bolt out.

I agree with what Maim said. You will need to pull the front shaft with bell crank and the two inner wheels. The inner wheels don't allow enough room to slide the lower shock bolt out. Some skids had wheels that had a hole in. You just aligned the hole with the bolt so bolt could pass through the wheel. Still easier than removing the skid. Be sure to undo the limiter straps from one end as well.

did mine without messing with the limiter straps.

Well swapped out the front skid shock with an Ohlins and removed the rear clicker to send to Cannondale for rebuild and revalve and yeah that front shock was a pita. I was second guessing if I should've just pulled the skid. I called a buddy as a second set of hands sure came in handy.
