Shocks

YES I have tried every setup on the floats even spent $1400 on the ones with the reseviors for the front of the 14 sold them and went Axys coil over clickers and never looked back

yes I hated them and never found a balance with them. I am on an XTX but friends were on LTX's and felt the same

I later switched to these and felt they were even worse in a way. I needed a full pit crew to make changes. any change required the pump, a screw driver and a wrench

I found the Floats very inconsistent as the temperature changes from day to day. The fact that I had two failures on one sled, a rear center and a front convinced me to make a switch to coil-overs. Making pressure adjustments looks easy in a video or when the pit crew takes care of it but when its -15f and the wind is blowing your more likely to just ride it out rather than stop and make a change. Custom Axis are a bit pricey, shop around.

I've had floats on a number of my past few sleds. Had the original Floats on my RS Nytro. They were OK, but things got better when I swapped them out for the GYTR clicker coil-overs. Had Floats on my FX Nytro, and swapped them out for the piggy-back clicker Floats. Things were better, but still - meh. The Floats that came standard on my Viper were still just OK. I never liked the fact that I had to check the pressure to make sure they didn't lead down between rides. And I did have one schrader valve fail on my out on the trail - that was a long slow ride home. I swapped out the standard Floats on my Viper for the better Floats that came on the LEs (piggy back, clickers, extra volume chamber). They were definitely better. But then I swapped all my shocks out for the QS3-R coil-overs. Wow - the world just got a whole ton better.

I'm sure the shock itself had a lot to do with the improvement jumping to coil-overs. But I just never really liked Floats and wasn't able to get them to perform at the level I can with a traditional coil-over.

We have 2 guys in our group that made the switch to Fox QS3r coil over shocks this summer on there Vipers. Both had the floats but after riding the 18 LE sidewinder last winter and watching it perform on the snow it was a no brainer to upgrade. Just like others have said air was a big problem, inconsistent from day to day even hour to hour. Now they will have a much much better riding sled and confidence there shocks will perform know matter what the trail condition.

I run just the basic fox zero pro coil shocks on my cat f800 and viper ltx se (viper has the cheaper version that comes standard on the dx vipers). I had the viper shocks revolved after 2 season on them and as expected the revalved setup performed phenomenal! I’ve ridden New sleds with the qs3 shocks and they didn’t ride as nice as mine with the cheap revalved shocks.
