Is anyone going to the Shootout and are you going to post the results? Today is the day.

I dont know what the hell happened there but the Apex got last in the 800 class..

I dont know about you.. buy my apex smokes my buddies F8.. and they are saying its the fastest of those sleds..

Im guessing they were running in some slick condtions for the apex to be running in the 13s..

Probably same crap as every year. Bunch of dummies setting it up.

Got these results of HCS.. Take it for what it's worth..

Here They are...
Fastest to slowest, best of 2 runs
600 Class
Nytro 13.04 @ 87 mph (not realy fair hp wise)
Poo 13.09 @84
Doo 14.01 @ 84
Cat F6 14.01 @81

800 Class
Cat 12.86 @ 93 mph
Poo 12.90 @ 93
Doo 13.0 @ 93
Apex 13.01 @91

Crossfire R 1000 11.6 @103 mph
Z1 Turbo 12.5 @ 95

The only one that impresses me is the Crossfire R 1000. I bet it was the sno pro with the Cobra track where the conditions were soft and favorable to that track.

I know the Apex can run way better than that... Soft conditions, if not setup, will make an Apex look like a slug. It's only 2 tenths, but it still PMO...

I just read on Doo-talk that there were no dealer preps this year.

No dealer prep is ok....everytime yamaha had dealer prep they went slower....sure looks like the 800 cat is the real deal!

It all depends on which one they ran... If they ran the sno-pro, then it's because the Cobra track helped them in the softer conditions...

it was the xfire 800r.
It's a firecat chasis 128x14" track same as the 1000r.There alot lighter then the f series sleds. There was 7" of snowe on the track and was real loose so tration was a issue. The cat 800 and 1000 had the standard tracks on there 1" lugs

If it was a sno-pro, then it came with a Cobra track. It maybe 14" or 15".

I read they were fresh from the box with no break in or setup..

That would explain alot..

THe 4 strokes would get stronger and the Doo would get past the break in..

I cant belive the apex went 13.04 but the new crossfire R went 11.5 WOW..

I still think, something was up there... Just like when the F1000 came out and it beat everything, but we all know it's a turd in stock forumn. 2 seconds is alot, when past experience shows that motor is not that strong in stock forum. I don't care if it's in a new chassis or not.

The chasis can make an huge difference, coupled with the fact that the R's are running the old Fastrac Skid which is an lot faster than the Slide Rail of the F1000's.

The 1000R is also probably at least 75-80 lbs lighter than an F1000, if not closer to 100, and in drag racing that's an huge difference.

Apparently Cat also spent huge amounts of time on getting the Calibration right on the 800's and 1000's, including copying the aftermarket Y-pipe mod.

These sleds run really good.

I've got an '09 800 Crossfire 141 Sno-pro(also an Nytro FX) and the thing is impressive. Yamaha like calibration in terms of throttle response and clean drive away. Awesome clutching, pulls like an freight train.

With 20 miles on mine I was getting 100mph in about 1500', impressive for an track with 1.5" paddles, it got to 90mph in about 500'

I would prefer an 4 stroke but no one makes an 455 lb 141" tracked 4 stroke yet. The only option is an XTX but that's in reality an good 100lbs heavier(love the engine though), and in the powder the light weight really does make an difference.

sledfreak did you see the corssfire r1000 et's on grass they where unreal.
The sled is fast.
