Shootout @Woodgate NY

Well something is darn strange when the Apex runs about the same ET as the Nytro does. I know the Nytro is a strong performer, but by the time 1320' is approached we all know the Apex would have gotten there before the Nytro. Last years numbers also proved this.

Well, the Apex actually beat the Nytro by 3/10ths on the stock run and beat the Nytro by 5/10ths in the dealer prep runs. Figure about 13 feet per tenth of a second at 90 mph. So Apex would have won by 40 feet and then by 65 feet. That's not exactly a "tight" race.

I have around 700 miles on my 2007 Rtx all stock except I installed a polaris fusion rear suspension.I can run the track loose without racheting. We ran radar on ice with a stock 2007 1000 crossfire.Stock crossfire 110 mph.My apex went 112 mph,my speedo read 127.My son has a 2007 crossfire 1000 with a bikeman y pipe.In most cases he kills me in the mid range. But this day on radar his sled went 113 only one mph faster then me.We all drag raced and I got the hole shot every time,My son would catch me in about a quarter mile. The stock crossfire never did. We only have two studs per bar so The sleds didnt hook real good but The apex seemed to hook better then the two cats. Before my son put the y pipe on his crossfire he would still beat me most of the time.
But not all of the time.Conditions? All I can say is The apex is very impressive and seems to be lees exspensive to drive then other muscle sleds. Belts are costly for the big cats and they are lucky to get 500 miles on one.

Arctic Cat guys cheating !!!!! NO WAY !!!!!!!

Seriously, if you don't think the Z1 Turbo was tweaked also you're kidding yourself. Everything I've seen of them so far indicates that they aren't that quick. Then all of the sudden an un-broken in Z1 rips off a 12.5. I don't think so.

The Apex has always been and still is in the mix of the fastest & quickest sleds out there.

Here is this years shootout:

Here is last years shootout:

NYTRO was run in the 600 class:
Nytro, S=12.538 ET, 95.4 MPH: D=12.9 ET, 94 MPH.

Ski-doo XP 600 S=13.56 ET, 83.6 MPH; D=13.0 ET, 87 MPH.

Polaris 600 Dragon S=12.54 ET, 94.93 MPH, D=12.8 ET, 94 MPH.

Cat 600= S= 13.58 ET, 91.64 MPH, D=13.2ET 92 MPH.

Unlimited Class:

Yamaha APEX: S= 12.02 ET, 102.97 MPH: D= 12.2 ET, 102 MPH.

Ski-doo 800: S= 12.516 ET, 92.21 MPH: D= 12.1 ET, 101 MPH.

This years Apex runs a 13.01 and the Nytro does a 13.04 right?
This is not 3/10ths difference, it is 3/100ths .....big difference.
The first digit after the decimal is tenths, then hundredths, thousandths...etc.

So if what you say is true that for every tenth of a second equals 13 feet, then for every 100th second you would have 1.3 ft. Being there was 3/100ths of a second difference, this equates to 3.9ft.

oh for sure...I've been thinking cat (again) but a ride this weekend and seeing my bud's crossfire crisp a piston gave me a partial reality check...
I'm interested in the turbo tho..

Yep saw a nice orange crossfire burn down of the trail saturday! Also saw a sc'ed Nytro get spanked by a f1000 with 2 stage spray.

Last year obviously when they had traction there seems to be a big difference.

Yes I can do math but your facts are wrong. This years box stock Nytro ran a 13.40...not 13.04. The dealer prep run was 13.04.

The dealer prep run on the Apex was like 12.7...not 13.01. Get your facts straight and compare apples to apples.

I just got my numbers from what was originally posted. Is there an official posting anywhere on the numbers for the shootout? I'm not trying to argue or start trouble, just taking the numbers I have seen. The 13.4 you mention is the first time I have seen that number. It does make more sense though. Winning the shootout is nice for any brand that wins it for the bragging rights, but in the end it's what happens out in the real world with the masses that really matters.
