2017 Sidewinder LTX SE
I couldn't pull the the trigger on the sidewinder this weekend. I seem to be living a fantasy that a 2 stoke 850 will be more overall fun. Still undecided....
I had a 17 Renegade Adrenaline 850 last winter(17). Traded it in on 2 Sidewinders this winter (18). The differences are obvious. The 2 stroke smell and never having to refill oil on the 4 stroke. The Renegade being so much lighter and easier to throw around on the twisties. The Sidewinders getting stuck in the 4-5ft of snow we have off trail up here because the front end is so damn heavy. Shitty Tuner skis. Noisy Yamaha clutches, poor oil reservoir seal, etc etc. Never had belt problems with the Renegade or the Winders. On a flat straight groomed trail or lake the Sidewinder is way more fun. On twisties and overall groomed trails, the 850 is way more fun. My dealer experience at Ski Doo was a ten, at Yamaha a two, except for warranty work required by the Sidewinders, during which a different Yamaha dealer in a different city treated me like a somebody. I’ve had a lot of fun this winter going very very fast in a straight line on a Sidewinder. I miss the ease of mobility and fun the Renegade gave me. I don’t miss buying oil all winter.....
