Well... I have a chance to trade my 07 phazer fx for a 2006 attak in good shape...I know this is a phazer board...but I was wondering what your thoughts are..I am not much of a speed demon anymore...but without going into details..I have to say it's a screamin deal. It's through a dealer, and he's giving me top dollar for my phazer. This attak has been meticulously maintained. It's very sharp. Would any of you phazer lovers...move to an attak if you could??

Dident you just get your phazer?

Yes I did....and it's an agonizing decision...I have told myself for months I really don't need the speed...and I prefer lighter weight...but...an attak is a comfortable sled for an older guy, much softer suspension and is much warmer than a phazer...they both have their pro/and cons... :o|

This is such a good deal, though I think I'd be a fool not to take it....again I won't go into details...other than to say he's giving me over bluebook value for my phazer and under bluebook value on a sharp attak.

it's agonizing :o|

at least they are both yamahas....can't lose either way :yam:

Re-sale alone i'd do it. My dealer that sold me mine only offered me $2500.00 for mine.

Well for one its a huge sled.Suspension needs work probably more than a Phazer.Seat height is way to low and it has just about all the same issues with bushings, joints, exhaust etc as a Phazer so ONLY thing you will gain is speed till it bottoms out on the first G=out and then you are afraid to go fast.I believe ib 08 they got suspension much better on anniversary model at least.

My brother and Dad have Attaks, they are fast, fast, fast.

Count on doing a new track cause they have way too much power for the factory track.

Count on replacing the rear shock. (bottoming)

but when you hit the throttle you MIGHT just forget all about your Phazer. when you hit a twisty ditch or rough trail, you MIGHT just remember that Phazer!

Yea that would be a tough call. What is most of your riding in? Forest, lakes, rail beds?

If its the forest stick with the phazer if you like corner to corner fun. Thats the reason i ride a phazer now insted of a high power sled. When i first got my phazer my friends all laugh "your riding a 500cc 4 stroke now?!" but then mid ride they usualy come up to me and are like "hey wana trade sleds for a bit that think looks like a blast"

So i guess what im saying is look at the type of riding you will likely be douing.

With the coldness of the sleds, i am actually warmer than when i rode my ac zl 800. Probably because the phazer is so easy to stand up and more around with vs sitting there and riding.

That's a great statement. You're right. What do you want the sled to do? Some look at mine and laugh also. It's not exactly Yamahas flag ship model, but i didn't buy it for their reasons. The guy i ride with has a Vector. Totally different. Boring, but a great cruiser and that's what he does. His first sled other then a Poo, and he loves it!

lol if your referring to my statement, that is exactly what i was trying to say: What do you want the sled to do? Right now the phazer does what i want to do. For me its Corner to corner, bumps, 4 stroke, i am almost 6 foot 3 and can stand and sit very comfortably and pretty light for a 4 stroke.

Yes, i was refering to you, and yes, well said. It is what i wanted, just that there are so many little up grades to make it stronger that it drives me nuts! My last Phazer was an 84, same crap, chinsy, but it was fun and back then i didn't mind tweaking and bolting on Bender racings kits! 25 years later, another Phazer, same thing. I should've did it ALL this summer, and did it right. Most mods are free to cheap fixes. My own fault. Nothing is perfect, (except Matt on HCS) and i'm very picky.

I agree with these guys.It is about what you do and how you ride.I cant afford to make it to the U.P. and even much just to the north. If I could I would want a cruiser faster sled for sure since its alot of highspeed and long miles.Majority of my riding now is right from my house and is not needed to have basicly a Goldwing of sleds when an Enduro gets the job done and is more fun.

agreed, get what you want for you riding style.
for me, its phazer. jumped on my dads vector once, yes nice cushy seat & power, but i like the rider position better on the phazer. plus it's easier to stand when the trails get whooped out. less stress on the body when you just let the sled do the work.

how about you offer him cash & no trade in? any better deal? that way you have 2 yami's & now a lake runner.

Just to reiterate what has been said above

Attak: Fast high mileage sitdown cruiser.

Phazer: Rough trail, and tight twisties.
