sidewinder engagement

I don't believe this chassis will transfer like a Doo. In trail form (excluding Xtx, Mtx etc) this chassis is very much planted and refined that In turn delivers much faster average overall speeds. I find that when following buddies and not trying to keep up with them it doesn't take much more than a few corners and straights to catch them up if needed or wanting to, even in the form of a Viper.
Unfortunately for tight, slower trails, the sled with little transfer is a real snooze fest, lots of track spin and heavy nose feeling due to this. It becomes immediate when swapping sleds with others that have that fun factor. While Im not a poo fan, they are incredible fun at low speeds with incredible transfer.

The SW becomes a blast on the bigger trails though for sure, hi speed cornering is flat as you mentioned.

Dale of Dalton is the best, just a great guy to talk to and they do things right period.

OK, I was going to go that route too with weights, as I love the easy quick adjustment on the Daltons. But I would have had to get 66 for stocker(I was thinking same as you) and then need 70s at least for a tune later. And So that is why I leaned toward the STMs as they can add up to 32g per arm, so I can run them from stock map all the way up to 300hp or so.

What caught my eye though, is this 31/35 you got. Now that must be new, and Dale and I have gone back and forth alot about spooling on trail, and the flatter initial angle helix has been talked about alot. But even as of today, the lowest one on Dalton site is 32/38. So, is this new or did he and you have this made specifically? Very intersting as to your feedback on this helix at such a low angle.

I wonder where the cuttoff point will be, between a much heavier side pressure spring we are all gonna run, and now low angle helix at trail speeds, I wonder what will make it way to revvy, and not enough upshift....I guess this season will be alot of new testing for sure, we all want the bottom end to snap, since the top end is an animal its all about the clutching and earlier spool.

Dan
sorry, I meant the 33/35. To many numbers flying around lately..LOL

with my supertips with 14g at tip its too high with bg its 5000 rpm i like better bwb but i didn’t ride it yet
Wow,what have you got them loaded to,mine have 14 in tip and mid empty and 2 washers in heel, one on each side, for a total weight of 80.9 grams on my digital scales,as the weights say y60 they in fact are 63 grms empty. Now I am a little surprised at that high engagement, what is the tune you have? and helix, belt ect. please

lol i know me i got a set of 50g supertips with base empty ,14g mid and 14g tip so 79g on scale i bought en extra set of tungsten for the test sorry i shoud tell this before my bad that way it will shift for sure i will run a 17 max but didn’t test it yet ...

ok, I installed the Dalton black/green primary and 66 gram Dalton weights with 5/8 setscrew all the way to the tip. I have not tried this set up yet, and I know I will have to tune it.
Engagement is at 3750.

my Ulmer's clutch kit engaged at 2800 rpm and my stock clutching engaged at 2700 to 2750 rpm on my xtx Le 137, just curious the reasoning why you want a 4000 rpm engagement?
Overall how did you like the Ulmer clutch kit comparing to stock? are the gains if any worth the $$

I think anti-lag would kick butt off the line, but that would be more for drag races ect...

Its too bad there is not a way to have more boost when in very slow trails so when you crack throttle the nose comes up and lurches instantly.....

Its mostly noticed by 2s guys, and my 4tec had that new iTC last two seasons which would near throw me off back of sled if not careful, and ofcourse Rmotion and the poo has BEST transfer out there, so it just jumps ahead.

Im hoping the RTX short track will have much better transfer....I did everything to Toms and the LTX just has poor transfer no matter what I did.

Dan

The short track is light years different imo than the 137. I'm a taller heavier rider so I do not have problems hooking up. We'll see this year with pt. I too found that off tight corner softness compared to clutched Apex. However just moving the sw around and into my trailer with Dalton and tp set up,I can can tell it will be much more crisp and can't wait to test it. The other thing for me is I adapt to what ever sled I am riding after a while and found a way to keep the sled spooled even in tight sections last year.

For my model the xtx Le 137 with 1.75 inch lug track running stock hp I found the kit wasn't worth the money. What I felt was a split second quicker response initially, but hardly noticeable and less response in mid range. The real downer was it had less top end than stock setup by 5 km/hr difference back to back runs. That's just what I found with my sled and other guys may have found better results, these were long hard pulls of 2 mile runs.
Now that being said I am running Power trail flash this coming year and have put the Ulmer kit back in the sled weighted like Mr Sled's setup and we'll see how that works.
