I was wondering how the riding is in Silver City/White Pine MI area is as we are thinking of riding there Feb 22-27?

We were looking at staying at the Prcupine Lodge in White Pine. Does anyone have any feedback on this Lodge or any suggestions on an nice places to stay in that area?

Do you need to have a current regisration in your state in order to register a sled in MI? or just proof of insurance.

Any help would be appreciated.

jaron, i know you probably already know this...but man, you are gonna have stellar snow conditions! iron county (where the farm is) got another 10 inches just last night, on top of the 2 feet they received over the last 8 days or so. have fun dude!

yes hammer! i feel bad, i kinda responded to jaron and didn't acknowledge your post.
i'm not sure what you're asking....as far as registration. it looks like you live in NY. are you just coming to Mi to ride? then all you'll need is to buy a trail pass. your sled should be registered in your own state. i don't think you need proof of insurance....
places to stay in white pine. i don't know the area in terms of lodging. but we got lots of snow!

Hammer, If your sled is registered in NY, all you need is a MI trail tag. Cost is $35.

As for places to stay, there is the Porcupine Lodge, the Konteka, or the AmericInn up in Silver City. They all have websites for there rates. As far as the Konteka, I know the owners and they just re-did all there rooms. Great place to stay IMO. They also have houses to rent out for bigger groups if needed.

The Konteka is the only place in the area with gas too.

AttakSnow2 I appreciate the info. I was wondering about the registration as I have not yet registered my 09 Apex and was wondering if it needed to be to register it in MI.

The guys have decided to ride in Muni and we will be there from 22-27. We decided to stay at the AmericInn which looked nice. They stated that the trail is behind the Inn.

Anyone who wants to ride with us is welcome.

Hammer, you have to have the sled registered in some state. In MI, you have to be a resident. I know the DNR will get you for no regisitration. If you are staying at the AmericInn in Silver City, the trail is right out front.

Good Luck

You CAN register your sled in MI as a nonresident. I live in Illinois, and my Viper is registered in MI. You'll still need a trail pass though.

I see Viper_Dave beat me too it..............we lived in OH the 1st five years we owned our house here and I always registered my sleds in MI......even before we owned property.......never rode them in central OH. MI doesn't seem to care but they HAVE to be registered someplace.........

I figured that it needed to be registered in order to get the trail pass. I may have the 09 registered prior to then if not it's the 06.
A change of plans brings us riding in Muni Feb 22-26. Anyone iterested in joining us for a day ride or two is welcome. I hope conditions are excellent.

Is there someplace close to the AmericInn to purchase trail permit?
