Anyone have feedback on the single ply tracks? I am looking at putting a 128 single ply Cobra on an 06 Apex GT with studs. I know I need the specific studs for the single ply, but I would like to hear if anyone has heard how durable the tracks are. The other bummer is that the single ply studs are only 1.325 from Woody's. The 128 only weighs 34lb compared to 40lb for the reg 128 Cobra.

I think there are some different pitches, but the Arctic Cat one is the same pitch. I did some more reading on Dootalk and Arcticchat, and I don't see any real issues with the single ply tracks. Studs are more expensive... Weight is less... Track is easier to turn....

My question - if they are just as durable, why do they require a larger head for the stud? Most studs have a head in .9" - 1.0" range, the studs for single ply are 1.2".

I think the track bends easier, so they need more surface area to still be able to provide a good bite without flexing. That's what I have read anyway. The benefit is the rolling resistance is less because the track bends easier... Again from what I have read.

It will roll easier till you fill that track with 1.125" dia headed stud. It needs that dia. to eliminate stud pull thru in the single ply. Studs rob HP but are needed for traction. Run as few as you can get by with.

I'd be a little concern of high speed track streching, we have 2 ply and have stretching so I can't see a 1 ply holding up any better... :dunno:

Talk to Camoplast. I believe this track can handle the studs for two ply tracks. I use a single and double pattern from woodys, hooks up nice. I use my track hard and I have not had problems....yet. KOW!

I was thinking of running doubles on every other bar and just doing them down the center. 144 or whatever that = in a 128. You guys think the performance will be better with that configuration in the single ply track as opposed to the reg one? I'm thinking it may. There is a 6 pound advantage right away and a track that bends easier. Hard to say how that will hold true after adding the studs, but I would also be studding the reg cobra with 144.. just a smaller diameter head.

Anyone actually run a studded single ply yet?

Is the 136" cobra? I am not sure of the part# maybe 9062H. I thought I read per this site that all cobra tracks were single ply. I could be wrong. That would be a first> lol

Only Arctic Cat has a Single ply Cobra on their sleds for 09? Camoplast sells the Cobra to the general public, but it is a 2 ply track. I would bet that next season you will be able to buy it in single ply form from Camoplast. As of now the single ply cobra is on the 09 Cat's... Camo made it exclusively for them.

Thanks SF for the info. It seems to me then I should have nothing to worry about in concern to studs pulling through. Sure do love this track!!

Yea.. It was a Cat track I was looking at. I think I am going to try it based on the feedback from other sites as well.
