Hello guys,
I'm a relative flatlander with an rs venture (144"). The standard ski's are skinny with a deep keel. The sled is a little tippy, and once the ski's are side loaded, the steering effort is very high.

It is unnoticeable on hard groomed trails, but bothersome once it gets soft or deep. I drove an 05 mxz with dual carbides and the steering effort was 25% of my venture. (not to mention the sled reacted well)

My questions are: How do you guys like the stock mounatin skiis? Do they have much of a keel to them? Does anyone have a picture of the bottom side? Do they maintain relatively easy steering effort?

Thanks in advance,

BA

The stock mountain skis are nice but dart a nice amount. The steering effort is no different

In your case i would get some Simmons flex skis'. They are dual carbide and do great off trail.

The Mountain skis are pretty impressive in my opinion. I have used Simmon's on my sled now for three seasons and very shortly they may be for sale.
The powder skis make the front end of the RX-1M feel (dare I say it) "light". It seems to float in deep snow now where before I felt like I was on a submarine.
One thing you need to do before you get them is add a 1/4" thick rubber strip under the rear of the stock rubber ski mount. It lifts the front of the ski up out of the snow a small amount helping in float and eliminating darting almost completely.

I put a set of 06 mountain skis on my 03 mountain and love them. Flotation a lot better. Keel design similar to stock ski however darts a little less.
