The GF and I are looking for a sled for her, she really likes the MXZ 600 ACE. We looked at the phasers she doesn't like the way it looks and the seating position, and the vector is out of the price range. Anybody have an opinion on the 600 ACE? The dealer says it based off one of the watercraft engines which they have had no trouble with.

60hp.... There was a serious recall on them, but only affected a certain amount of them. To the point that dealers were told not to run them.... I believe they are fixed now. Just beware of it...

Thanks good to know, looks like it was some issue with oil pump bolts being to long or something, seems like they got it fixed now.

They're fine. The recall was way over exaggerated. They are supposed to have about the same power as their 550 Fan, and be "electric smooth". A disappointing 22-ish mpg, but maybe not broke in? Besides that, everybody that i've talked to, or read about loves them and say they have a "little more' then they would've thought for 60 hp. ?

I've read mid to low 20s mpg, more if you get the model with the .75" track. With a top speed of around 75ish, 80 mph is possible with a very long run, on a broken in motor I guess.

If you are alright with that kind of speed, they sound like an awesome sled, light weight and great handling

I think your girlfriend will love that sled, handles well, decent enough power and is it ever quiet.

i'd hold off for the first year of this model. get the bugs worked out & such.
but that's just me.

not found of the ACE after all the hype of it being having 29mpg & then hitting the low 20's. seems like it would be a good putts-around sled according to the sled mags. yet with a price tag of $8699. granted in a few years it will probably get tuned some.

i'd go after the IQ's or trail arm style sled.

I've heard great things about the Polaris 600 IQ, but it is a 2 stroke. Price is about $6500 I believe.

If you really want a smaller 4 stroke then the ACE is prob your sled.

Only a grand more then the 550 TNT fan someone bought.........
Which would be around 7 grand. <---for the Ace.

Thanks for the advice guys I think we may go for it when they have the good financing in the summer.
I think she will be happy with the power, she loved the Rev XP 550F that we rented last year.... Not to mention the electric start and fuel injection. And with this E15 thing coming i don't want to mess with a 2 stroke.
I like IQ 600, but she wont drive a Polaris...

Sorry if i posted this in the wrong section, i thought the Head to Head section was for comparing one sled to another. Won't do it again, Thanks again guys.

I got to ride one for a bit, seems like a great replacement for the fan cooled class. The one I was on had 121" track. Speed was OK, the guy managed to run side by side with my Phazer up to 77 on my speedo which is about 72mph gps. Accleration was so so I could hold my phazer at a little over 3/4 throttle and run side by side with him on the up. It had 500 miles on it. Felt FRONT heavy though, not nearly as balanced as my Phazer BUT seemed to handle corners better due to the lower center of gravity AND being front heavy.

QUIET, noticably quieter than the stock exhaust was on my phazer. The guy claimed he was getting 22-23mpg while "breaking it in" at 30-50 mph with NO aggressive acceleration , I get 19-21mpg with my 144" Phazer under the same conditions.

His comments on my Phazer, TIPPY and QUICK . He was actually kinda mad as his dealer told him that the 600ace was comparable to the Phazer powerwise, and had better torque since the engine was "bigger". Not a bad sled, but the price is too much for what you get. MAYBE yamaha will have a lighter cruiser style sled with the phazer or phazer replecement engine under the hood for 2012.
