 Hey guys, love this site, don't spend much time on it during the off season but it's great to be back on. One of my riding buddies who is a die hard two stroke Doo guy has had it with his 08 XP 800 and is about to pull the trigger on an 09 apex LTX up in NH that was just traded in. He wants to trade the XP at a dealer and not go private sale with either sled, not really sure about the details why but that's his choice. :-o
Anyway, I have tried to win him over since I bought my 07 new, and now he's ready to buy! His goal will be to turbo it at a much later date, so the 136 should be a good choice correct? since I have the RTX I don't know too much about his hopefully new ride, what are things we should look for when we both go up to check it out?
the dealer is asking $6850 with 5340 miles from what the add says. It definately is picked but not sure yet how many. It has a high windshield and mirrors, with reverse and is candy red. It also still has 2 years left on the Y E S. What do you think? I'm not sure what they told him they'd give him for his XP in trade? thanks for any responses, Doug

Sounds like a pretty good price considering an 09 and 2 yrs of YES left. Tall windshield and mirrors probly adult driven..

blue oval... my friend has been skidoo for 10yrs and bought the 09 LTX and said he will never go back.. loves the ride and said it handles way better than he thought. it did not fit in his clam 10 footer.

The sled is 118".1" trailer is 120" i believe. Are the W arms an issue on the 136 like the shorty skids? It looks like there are two studs per bar, is that 144? Doug

Sherlock, did the LTX come with ohlins as an option? i personally love the look of the white and red combo. Are there any other concerns with the suspension on the mono?

Yes, one possible other concern...if your friend is a bigger/heavier guy and/or rides real aggressive (in the bumps) he may want to upgrade to a heavier spring (big boy spring). But-he should ride it first and if it is bottoming on him alot then he will know.

the 09's have a wee bit bigger (stiffer) spring in them... I'd drive first and see. But if it has ned had a rebuild to the shock he may want to do that.

My 08 is a 40th annivesary.. it came as a limited 1 year build, with the Ohlins all around. I just had all my shocks rebuilt/revalved this summer and i have about 3 miles on the mods.. i also stretched it to 144" with a 151" tunnel... Ohlins can be bought... but they are not cheep... in 08 it was a $1500 option.. and worth every penny!...

09 version of the mono has most if not all the updates done to it. (they did them in 08). so he should not have any issues...

Yes i love the white and red... took awhile to grow on me...

this year... first snow....
