I have heard that I should put 8" carbides on the outside of my skiis. Has anyone have experience with this setup? If so, where did you find them and what did you pay? Thanks.

Mine came with the stock 4" (or was it 5"?), 90 degree carbide bars on both sides. I found that was adequate and very similar to a plastic ski with a single 6", 60 degree carbide. Getting your limiter straps set right for your weight is important too as it will affect ski pressure and thus how the carbides you choose will work, hard steering vs. pushing in turns.
As far as price, I bought the complete kits at less than full retail thru a dealer friend. By the way, the RX stock skis work pretty good on a v-max compared to the original steel skis.

Thanks for the info. I just sold my skiis to my friend that has that same machine. I have to bone up on the limiter straps, I have never adjusted them. I will post my results as soon as the snow flies.

Remember that a dual runner ski won't have both runners planted when turning. the sharper the turn, the more the outside runner comes up. If you were on a flat icy surface (lake) you would see that your left carbides were working only when turning left, same for the right. There's a good video of this on Simmon's website, and www.bergstromskegs.com has it too.

I think I would keep it even, but I ride trails mostly. In Michigan, the left hand corners have snowbanks, and the righties have traffic coming the other way! Crucial to make those corners without pushing.

I'd keep them even, and if one side wears out before the other, swap them around. Good luck!

My brother put 6" woodys on the out sides and the stock runners on the insides. He loved these skis and this set up, riding on groomed trails. This is were I am going to start out on my Warrior.

I ran about 3000 mi with doo skis last year. about 1/2 with the stock skid and 1/2 with an expert x. I would not increase the carbide size. I used stock all year. I had a set of 8" in reserve, but found that my only complaint was too much ski pressure at moderate speeds. At high speeds they were great. This was more of an issue with the expert than stock. I also had installed longer links, 12mm bar and the pioneer striaght rate springs. all of this stuff is for sale as I traded the sled.

RedRX1,
How much were you asking for the 12mm bar and straight rate springs? What rate are the springs? 2.1 or 2.3? I was going to order the bar and springs from Pioneer since I already have the links so let me know what you are asking for the two items.
