I am using doo 135mm wheels on my 06 gt. I have not changed my inner wheels on the skid. They are still the stock yamaha wheels with non replaceable bearings. Will the 135mm doo wheels work there or are the to thick? What wheels should i use and where to buy them?

i use all 135mm wheels for all idlers....this will help with slider life, clip life and heat issues.

now what you also MUST do IMO is to use 2 bolt MOUNTS for those 135mm wheels....if you dont, you will crack the rails.

you need two bolt mounts for the Inners, and the FRONT outers....the mid outers you do not need 2 bolt mounts on the MONO cause it has steel bracket there and cannot flex.

I run BRP 2 bolt mounts front and inners(you can get from royal distributing) and BRP Inner wheels which are narrow and take 6205 bearings....

for outers i run billet wheels with 6205s and stock bolts work once you grind off some of the stock front mount to match the DOO mounts.

Ok, I was going to use the Doo Kimpex wheels on my inside middle ones this weekend and found that they are too thick to fit between the drive lugs.
The stock wheels are narrower, and therefore more forgiving to the 1/8" or so that the track may move side to side.
Now I am reading of the possibility of cracked rails due to them being bigger? These ones I got are 5.25" and are the same as my 4 outers that are 5.35".
These are the wheels I am using...

Dan, what part number are the Doo brackets you are using from Royal?

Also, I noticed that the stock brackets, even with the STOCK wheels (I have 4 new ones still!!) put the wheels off center of the drive lugs.
There is I think 40 thous cut off my inner mounts already, in an attempt to align the wheels to the center better.

i just got same exact wheel 5.25" (kimpex pro idler 04-052-20).....they are very FAT I know, and they are actually darn close to 135mm,dont get the next taller ones they claim to be 135mm but they are more like 139mm!....i had to take those back to royal....(they were 04-053-20,139mm too large!)

i got these onsale for 12.99 a piece! here:

I know they are fat but mine fit between lugs, just snugly though....im gonna run em.

Dan, those are the wheels I have. I have the 5.35 on the outside since Feb 06.
I just bought the 5.25 last week from Royal.

I still think they are too wide!! Solid black Polaris or cat wheels are 'pointier' and thus narrower than those wheels we bought.
I am taking mine back this weekend and maybe getting the ppd style solid black wheels.....

here you go...page 167
http://www.royaldistributing.com/main/i ... Number=167

royal part number 04-157-05
BRP part number is 503-190-389

you will need to grind out alittle more material so they fit our rails.

I used STOCK APEX one bolt mounts in MIDDLE outers....i ground them off abit so i could use stock bolt/nut with the 6205 bearings...they are now closer to the same offset as the doo mounts i used infront of them...i only did this so i could use stock apex bolts/nuts safely for locknut to lock.

Dan, all of our tracks are the same drive lug specs....these wheels are going to be hitting the lugs constantly....they are just too wide and close to the drive lugs!!

as of now i still have the BRP 135mm wheels i was running last season, they are very narrow wheels and have lots of room in between lugs....but they dont last as long i bet....thes kimpex are so damn fat they gotta last longer!

i thought same exact thing.....but i also thought, since i lost a zillion clips from them slamming against my sliders, and they tore sliders to shreds,i wonder if these wheels would help keep track alittle more inline?...crazy i know..lol

i guess i need to just tighten track up and not worry bout top speed so much!

i was shocked at how fat these wheels are though!....i know others have run them so i figured what the hey.

I ran my RX1-'05 over 12.000kms with STYLE "B" idler on page 171 from ROYAL w/6205 bearings and never looked back with machined OEM mounts on INNER rear idlers...when I traded it in I kept my set-up from my '05 and installed it on my '08 APEX that now has 10.000kms without any issues, I've never had a idler fail so far or any type of damage, my buddy's '05 RX1 has the same set-up with over 13.000kms without any issues either.

Ran the same Kimpex wheels on my RX-1 and never had an issue, the wheels DO help keep the track aligned.

Funny Dan, found the same source for the wheels. ;)!
